☠ FOUR ☠ [VIDEO]
[When the feed comes on the scene it shows would be normal, if it weren't for a couple of key elements being rather off. Astrid is at the forefront of it all, cleaning off a rather sharp bloody looking knife with a cloth. There are some ripped up cloth bandages, some of them bloody, strewn along the top of the kitchen table she's sitting at. Off to her side is a rather pale looking Hiccup, one of his arms bandaged up in the same cloth strips. It isn't very hard to make the connection.
That isn't the only strange thing though - on Hiccup's forehead there seems to be stuck a bright yellow post-it note, with some runes scribbled on it. He looks a little miserable and sick, but Astrid herself seems healthy as ever. She takes only a moment more before adjusting the angle of the feed before sitting back entirely, continuing to clean the blade as she speaks.]
There really is a lot of sickness going around, isn't there? It's pretty unnerving. I figured either Hiccup or I would catch it, so I decided to be prepared. Good thing too, considering I was right and Hiccup did end up sick.
[Sliding the knife through the cloth one more time, she holds it up to her eyes closely for inspection before deeming it blood free, before tossing it onto the table with a little too much force, causing Hiccup to wince at the noise it makes.]
Like my mom used to always teach me, the best way to be on the offense of an illness is to go on the defense. That's why I've been praying to Eir every day extra hard. I even caught a goose in the park and sacrificed it to her when Hiccup got sick, just for good measure. I told Hiccup to pray too, but I guess he didn't pray enough.
[At that Hiccup rolls his eyes, but shoots Astrid a grimace of a smile when she glances his way.]
But it's alright. He'll get better and he already has started to feel better, haven't you Hiccup? [There's a nod, but...it isn't that enthusiastic.] I've put the proper runes on him, bled him a little bit, fed him garlic and even made him medicine out of herbs. I think the elder of our village would be pretty proud of me right now.
Anyway, I've been carving a few charms out of wood since they're better than post-it notes and last longer, and was wondering if anyone who's sick would like one. I can also help bleed you if you'd like. I'm really good at holding people down, even if they struggle!
So, let me know, alright?
[ooc: Both Hiccup and Astrid will be replying to your comments! Don't pity Hiccup though. He feels sorry enough for himself already. 8|]

[Action]
Why?
[Action]
Because!
[Another moment passes. His voice softens as well.]
Because...I'm the one who basically downed Toothless in the first place. The whole tail fin thing. I did it. I was excited when I did it, obviously– of course I was. Who wouldn't?? Right?
And then after getting to know him, it just started. Feeling bad.
[Action]
[She's never really been good at comforting anyone. Usually her attempts end up hurting the person she's trying to make feel better instead. But, her heart is in the right place, and while her words might be blunt and a little firm, her touch is gentle when she slides a hand across the table, setting it atop one of Hiccup's.]
All of us would've been ecstatic to shoot down a Night Fury. You'd have to be insane not to be. In three hundred years you're the first Viking who wouldn't kill a dragon - you said that to me, you know. But, you were also the first to ride one. You can't guilt yourself over something you did that you thought was right at first. That's like me guilting myself over cutting your arm just because I didn't know any better. That'd be stupid.
[There was a bit of a sigh as she tried to smile for him, even if it was a small one.]
Look. You might've hurt Toothless' tail, but you did the right thing and went out of your way to learn how to fly with him. You even made him a tail fin he could use all by himself as a gift once...but I think he broke that one...
Toothless is your best friend, Hiccup. Does it look like he holds it against you at all? Look at it this way - the more you sit around feeling sorry about it and guilty, the more sick you'll be and if you're sick? Then you can't go flying with Toothless.
Then you've something to actually feel guilty about. Right?
[Action]
[He may sound a little flat there, but he knows she has a point. Sure, it was a larger burden, but it would be stupid to keep mulling over it. It happened. He did that. That is what they know. Both Astrid and Toothless accepted this and are currently here with him, no problems at all.
They're still there.
The boy sighs, glancing up at Astrid.]
It would be pretty bad if I did stay focused on all that, huh?
[Action]
If you think I'm bad when I'm mad, I think Toothless just might be a bit worse. Cheer up and get better, Hiccup. We both want to see you well.
The sooner you two are flying together again, the better it'll be for both of you I think.
[Action]
[After a pause, he heaves another sigh. Fingers press against his temple before he raises up an index finger, wagging it several times.]
There are...two more things I need to add onto this.
[Action]
Well, alright. I'm listening.
[Action]
One: I also still feel really bad about this whole...messed up time line thing. Between us. I mean – the stuff you know, that I should know but don't know in that physical experience kind of way– I hope that can be remedied. Somehow. Because it's pretty frustrating, it's gotta be.
[He then runs a hand through his hair as he takes the initiative, brow furrowing slightly.]
And two: I know you won't like hearing this, but I want you to stay calm, all right? I know you're doing your best, but this doctor guy isn't backing down. If we just let him do his job for a little bit, then he'd stop going crazy over what just happened here.
[Action]
Well...about one, there's nothing that can really be done about that. Whatever's happened for me has happened, and whatever hasn't happened for you yet, hasn't. It's a bit frustrating, especially since you kind of act like I'm going to kill you most of the time, but I've accepted that. I'm just thankful you're all in one piece and...well. [Her cheeks went a little pink then, eyes angled away.] All that matters is that we're here together, right? That we both like each other and know that. I think we'll have plenty of time to get caught up in doing crazy or stupid things, especially you. So I wouldn't worry too much about that.
[There was a small sigh as she flicked her bangs out of her eyes, wanting to swallow her words, but forcing herself to spit them out regardless.]
And if I make you uncomfortable, you know...by holding your hand or giving you a kiss then you have to tell me, alright? I'm impulsive, you know that. But I really also think you ought to get used to it. I mean, that's what people do when they like each other, right?
[And with that out of the way she could swallow her embarrassment and turn it into something else - displeasure. It didn't take long for Astrid's brow to furrow.]
That man is insane. I don't know where he's coming from, or who in Thor's name he thinks he is, but it's not fair at all. If we were back home I'd have his head on a spike for insulting me the way he did! [There was a huff as she sat back in her chair, deflating.] Fine. Look, I'm calm. I'll stay calm. I won't...go cut his head off or something. Promise. But only cause you asked.
[Action]
I know. My fault. It's been a few months now and still...
[He shakes his head, looking back at Astrid.]
I know how you are. Because that's what you do, as you said. I should try to respond accordingly to your actions.
Because they're really, really good.
[However awkward he feels about admitting that, he does note the change in her demeanor.]
Now– you promised. [As he holds up a hand, he nods.] Okay. Good. A compromise. I think that's what it's suppose to be.
...Plus he apologizes for what he said. [A hopeful pause.] He'll also tell you later when he gets over here.
[Action]
[But that was enough of that. It was better to be focused on the hand held up in front of her, brow raising as she watched Hiccup remind her of the promise she'd made only seconds ago. As if she'd forget so quickly.]
He apologizes? [Well, that wasn't something she expected, even if she's still irritated.] I'll see how I feel when I actually hear it from his mouth. He's lucky we're not in Berk anymore.
[Action]
It easily transitions to one that focuses more on the topic of the doctor and the outbursts and whatever.]
For his sake, Iii'd have to agree.
[Action]
Hey, are you feeling any better at all?
[Action]
Ah. Well. Yeah. I am, actually.
[Action]
[Action]
[Action]
You can have the bed, alright? I don't mind. Take it and rest on it and rest until you're sick of laying on a bed. Okay?
[Action]
Okay. Thanks.
