Escape 01 | Video
[It takes some fumbling around, but eventually Anders thinks that he does have the strange magical amulet working like he was told that it would. Well, presuming that this isn't a strange plan to make him feel like a fool, that is. He does wonder that part a little as he clears his throat and offers a bright smile to whoever might be watching him.]
While I'm still rather new to this whole 'kidnapped from everything you know' bit and trying to get used to it all, one thing I can tell is when a healer might come in handy. Now I might be reading this wrong, but it seems like there's a bit of an illness going around, yes? I haven't had the chance to find out much more than that, but... I'd like to help, if I can.
[He shrugs and his smile edges just a little towards being nervous.]
I don't know what sorts of opinions people have on mages and magic here either, but hopefully no one's about to go running to the Chantry to turn me in? Or at least be the type to give a man a head start first, I hope.
[It feels strange to try and talk to something that can't answer so, with a sigh and a small amount of fumbling with the amulet, Anders manages to turn off the feed.]

[It sounds like it might be anyway. The other thing that sounds pretty good to him is one little thing the other man says. His smile starts to turn into a fully fledged grin of delight, and Anders can't quite help but ask:] Sorry, can you repeat that? Did you just say that having magic seems normal to you?
no subject
[He laughs.] I'm not used to it from back home, but it's pretty normal, here! A lot of people have magic.
no subject
It's a bit different than what I'm used to in Thedas. Not that I'm complaining by any means. It'll make helping people a lot easier as well!
no subject
It should! I'm sorry, I've never heard of Thedas, though. Is that your... world, or country?
no subject
Both, in a way. They say there are other countries out there, but no one's ever been to them. But I suppose the Qunari had to come from somewhere on those ships of theirs. I haven't really thought about what those other places might be like, though. It's a bit unlikely I'll ever get anywhere near them.
[The number he takes, then stares at for a moment before smiling brightly.]
What is this for, exactly?
no subject
[He blinks.] It's Doctor Yumeno's NV number! You type it into your NV and then you can talk to him.
no subject
[He shrugs loosely.] Maybe ships can't go that far, I don't know, I don't know much of sea voyages. Maker knows if there's even much else out there, or how far away it is.
Why does it matter anyway? Are you saying you know everything in your world?
no subject
I used to pretend to be an explorer when I was a kid, but I could never do that.
no subject
[Still, the idea of so much of the world being known seems strange. What would be the point of some of it anyway? Sure, people could probably get to other parts of the world by ship, but it would have to take months or longer at sea and there's only so much sea that people can take.]
I was never much for exploring, really. I always preferred to mind my own business, but now I'm with the Grey Wardens, running around in the Deep Roads and fighting darkspawn. Funny how that sort of thing works out, isn't it?
no subject
[He nods.] Sounds like a hard time... what are darkspawn?
no subject
...though I suppose going to the centre of the world would just be exploring the Deep Roads enough...
[Which reminds him.]
Darkspawn are these horrible twisted creatures that live deep underground. They swarm all through the Deep Roads and kill almost anyone they find, if they don't have worse plans for them. Their blood's tainted and foul, and those that get it into any open wounds or inside them any other way don't usually make it.
Wardens like myself are immune to the Taint so we can fight the vicious beasts more easily than others can. We protect those on the surface should the darkspawn rise from below and begin terrorising people, and when they're quiet, we forge into the Deep Roads and try to keep the paths clear, knock back their numbers as much as we can.
no subject
[He frowns, looking a little thoughtful.] So... they're kind of like the darkness monsters, here? That they try to kill everything, and you could get really sick if anything happened to you.
no subject
...and that may not be much of a cure, really.
[He forces a smile, not wanting to dwell on that for too long.] Still, I'm certain the ones here don't have that problem!
...now what were those astromonks you were talking about?
no subject
Astronauts! Not astromonks. [Grins.] They're people who train to go up in space, in rockets, and they work in space stations!
no subject
I'm afraid I can't really tell you. The Joining's a secret that only Wardens are supposed to know, and I only know part of it myself. Let's just say it's not really the best of cures, nor one that should be taken lightly.
no subject
no subject
True, it worked out in my favour this time, but it could have easily not.
no subject
It's brave.
no subject
And sometimes I don't wonder if it might still be a better idea. Still, I suppose there's not much I can do about that now, is there? I can't really get much further away from the Wardens than here, and the parts of it still with me it isn't possible to escape from anyway. So I may as well just see what I can get up to here, yes?

[He grins and reaches out to drape his arm over the other man's shoulder.]
You're an all right guy, Kenzo! I hope we can see more of each other.

[Grinning, Anders pats Kenzo's shoulder.]
Well, I suppose I should get in contact with this other doctor, see if he's willing to make use of my considerable talents. Shall I see you later then?
