001: [Video] Duel One - Greetings! 6pm
[A video blips on as he fiddles with his device, at long last making a steady connection to the netvice community. A silvery-haired fop is now on your network—Ready to do a little chit-chatting, Siren's Port?]
Oooo. This is just like out of one of those Sci-Fi shows, you know. How exciting. Can you all hear me? Well hello, hello there! ~☆
[Waves all friendly-like with a glass of wine in one hand, smiling winsomely.]
Good evening, good evening my dear friends. I do hope all of you are having a stellar evening, indeed. I'm…What is it they say? Newly Arrived? Oh, it's really all very strange. Very confusing. Why, I've been absolutely terrified!~
Also, I confess, a little exhausted.
[Fans himself briskly with one hand and sits up from what appears to be a posh-looking couch that most certainly wasn't in the Starter Apartments, letting forth a dramatic sigh.]
Well, since it appears we're going to be stuck here for a while why don't you let me tell you a little about myself so we might get to know each other better, hm?
My name is Pegasus J. Crawford, inventor of a wonderful card game called Duel Monsters, chairman and CEO of Industrial Illusions, and I come from America. California, to be specific. Ha, ha.~ It's a wonderful place, really.
[Giggles at that, as if telling the most amusing joke.]
Pleasure to make your acquaintance. ♡
But now that you know who I am, it's only fair that I should like to get to know all of you. So, boy do I have a little question for you, Siren's Port:
Do any of you like to play games? I invented one, you know. Maybe you could help lil' old me pass the time? A winner-take-all duel, you might say. The loser takes me out to dinner. Or, if you're so inclined, maybe show me around. I could really use a tour. How about it, hm?
[ooc: Action tags are welcome. He'll come skipping right out to meet and greet almost anyone if they're friendly enough. Don't expect him to walk too far though unless you call him a cab.
EDIT: Check/fill out this awesome PERMISSIONS POST here!]

[Is sort of mumbled under her breath as she fiddles with a lock of her hair. She seems a bit bitter. But then she brightens to the mention of a coffee shop. She seems to know where he speaks of.]
Oh that would be perfect! I'm rather familiar with the area, I can meet you in about.. Ten minutes, Mister Crawford?
[A brief 'click' and the video feed would end. He'll be busy getting ready and moving down the stairs...Traveling to the cafe that was not far from him. It was a hop, skip, and a jump, as they say.
When she comes to that shop she'll see a man sitting alone in a bright red suit and a ruffled shirt with laced cuffs sipping at a small drink elegantly, a deck of cards on the tabletop next to him.]
[Action]
Good afternoon, Mister Crawford.. May I?
[Gesturing to the chair. As calm as her words may be, she does find his presence a bit intimidating. He's the real deal for certain.]
[Action]
[Leaning forwards before he sets the drink down, and stands, his six foot frame lithe and looking spiffily clad in that millionaire's finely tailored suit. Sidles around to pull the chair out for her, being a proper gentleman.]
[Action]
O- Oh, yes, thank you. I'm sorry about that. Goodness, you're so tall.
[She takes the seat, looking at something else to keep from gawking any further. The clothing she was used to, despite the fabric looking more expensive than anything produced from her world.]
Oh, what brand wine do you have there?
[Action]
[He helps her slide it in before scooting back to his own chair, sitting back with ease without so much as a wrinkle in his slacks.
His eye follows her line of sight, and he smiles all the more.]
Pinot Noir: Dark, rich, brooding, and refreshing. It has a sweeter side, too. Like me.
[Props his chin up over the top of his hand.]
[Action]
Oh my! I can't say I've ever gotten a chance to say that I've met a man who is like a glass of Pinot Noir~. And is it all right for me to ask what Misses Crawford is?
[Action]
[Hums and makes himself more comfortable as he gazes at her through a heavy-lidded eye, the left side of his face covered by that curtain of silver hair.]
Mrs...?
[He kind of goes quiet for a moment after considering the question, and shakes his head.]
There isn't...One.
[He isn't about to volunteer that there once was a Mrs. Crawford. It was far too painful a subject. Hence, he'll change said subject.]
Unless you mean my mother. In which case, I'd say a sublime wine, indeed, if I could think of one worthy enough.
[Action]
Oh, I see.. [She's completely oblivious to the fact that one had even existed. She then giggles.] That wasn't what I meant, no. But I can certainly relate, I owe my dear mother for everything.. Though I suppose this conversation isn't about our parents, is it?
[Hattie gestures to the deck.]
So these are the cards for your famous game?
[Action]
Heh. No, not at all.
[But it was a good way to deter her from broaching the subject further. Hence, he'll regard the deck in turn.]
Yes, indeed.
[They were carefully laid within a small glass box, the lid open. He moves to collect them, sliding over the extra cards he'd brought that were not within his own unique deck.]
Shall we begin?
[Action]
Oh, that case is gorgeous. Is this game expensive?
[She carefully picks up the offered card, unable to help but pick up one to look at the picture upon it.]
Yes, I'm ready! .. I think.
(OOC: I'm somewhat familiar with the rules so feel free to be vague with explainations!)
[Action]
[It's a complicated matter, but in terms of how much importance you place on it...And indeed, the card she held in her hand would be: "Change of Heart".
He'll go on to explain the rules in brief, detailing how two opponents engage in a duel via by using monsters, trap/magic cards, etc. with the goal of reducing each other's life points from 2000 to 0.
"Of course", Pegasus would go on to say, "one must never attack another opponent's life points directly." That would defeat the purpose of the game. With a base deck of 40-60 cards a person has a large number of choices from which to defeat their opponent...]
Altogether, it's not so bad, hm?
But, there are other ways besides Magic and Trap cards to get the one up on your opponent...Take this monster card for instance...The Dancing Fairies.
[He turns it over nimbly, looking up at her.]
Its effect can be quite useful: As long as it remains face up on the field in defense mode then it can increase your Life points by 1000 each turn.
[Action]
It sounds like it takes a bit of practice to get down pat.. I think I understand a bit better what you meant about 'strategy' before. [She then looks at the card and gasps.] That's a really powerful card, I hope I have three of those! Now let's see what I have..
[She looks at her card, and seems considerably less impressed.]
.. Oh.
[Action]
You'll learn your way around them if you play enough, believe me.
Oh well, it can...have its advantages and disadvantages. Even if you had three, you see, what's to prevent me from destroying it with a more powerful monster? The Fairies are gentle creatures, and prefer defense to attack, as you can see.
[He'd almost think her expression humorous at that last bit, his lips creasing in a smirk.]
Let me see~ Can't be that bad, can it?
[Action]
Of course! I'm not going to give up that easily. Now.. Hmn. [Hattie thinks about his question for a moment, then looks at her card again.]
Well, in that situation, Change of Heart would be good! Then I'd have lots of health and I'd win! [She shows him said card.] But otherwise this isn't any good. You're going to have more health and then I'll lose.
[And that, is Hattie's so-called 'strategy'.]
[Action]
Ooo, yes! See? You're catching on rather quick. Change of Heart could be used to take my more powerful monster and use it against me...Or! Perhaps you could play another monster such as this one—
[Pulls out Hane-Hane ] and return the monster to my hand.
Now, now, we can't determine that solely from a single move, dear. We'd have to play through the game, being as anything can change...
[Chuckles softly, taking a momentarily sip of his wine before returning to their "teaching" game.]
If I had a De-Spell card then Change of Heart would be destroyed and your strategy would become useless. Then you'd have to think of something else.
[Action]
Ohh.. Oh! I see, that's really interesting!
So then to be exceptionally good at this game, one should be as knowledgable about as many of your cards as possible, right? Is there any chance you have any for sale?
[Action]
[He's just glad she catches on rather quickly. See? A children's card game can be taught to even someone like you, Hattie. ;) ]
Ah, well, you see...I am quite embarrassed to tell you that these are the only ones I have right now, being as I've only been here less than...2, or was that 3 days?
But, rest assured, I will be putting them into production as soon as possible.
However, given that I like you...You can keep the Dancing Fairies for free, if you like. A gift, from me to you. Just please take good care of it, won't you? Then I will be very pleased to make you a custom deck, in the near future, for your own use.
[Action]
Oh, right.. Yes, that was a rather silly question in retrospect..
[Hattie did seem a bit embarassed there, and tried to brush it off. Excitement over keeping a card and a promise to have a deck made in the future will do just nicely, the blonde given a yelp of delight. Oh, and the flattery doesn't hurt.]
Oh! That'd be wonderful, thank you very much! And of course I'll take care of it. And thank you very much for your time, Mister Crawford, this was all quite enlightening! [She gives the card a look for just a moment, then back to him.] Is there any way I can help get things started? A donation, perhaps?"
