Oooo. This is just like out of one of those Sci-Fi shows, you know. How exciting. Can you all hear me? Well hello, hello there! ~☆

[Waves all friendly-like with a glass of wine in one hand, smiling winsomely.]

Good evening, good evening my dear friends. I do hope all of you are having a stellar evening, indeed. I'm…What is it they say? Newly Arrived? Oh, it's really all very strange. Very confusing. Why, I've been absolutely terrified!~

Also, I confess, a little exhausted.

[Fans himself briskly with one hand and sits up from what appears to be a posh-looking couch that most certainly wasn't in the Starter Apartments, letting forth a dramatic sigh.]

Well, since it appears we're going to be stuck here for a while why don't you let me tell you a little about myself so we might get to know each other better, hm?

My name is Pegasus J. Crawford, inventor of a wonderful card game called Duel Monsters, chairman and CEO of Industrial Illusions, and I come from America. California, to be specific. Ha, ha.~ It's a wonderful place, really.

[Giggles at that, as if telling the most amusing joke.]

But now that you know who I am, it's only fair that I should like to get to know all of you. So, boy do I have a little question for you, Siren's Port:

Do any of you like to play games? I invented one, you know. Maybe you could help lil' old me pass the time? A winner-take-all duel, you might say. The loser takes me out to dinner. Or, if you're so inclined, maybe show me around. I could really use a tour. How about it, hm?

Well, well. It's about time someone said hello..I was beginning to think I was put on an island all by my lonesome. And while I do like my solitary time sometimes it's nice to fresh things up with a new face.

Well, you never know about people nowadays. Plus I really would like a guide of some kind. Maybe someone to show me a nice time or a dinner out on the town. Can't say I've gotten this bad of hospitality since the 80's.

The Greeters really aren't all they're cracked up to be. I don't know why, to be honest.

So what kind of a game is it, that you want to play?

You're preaching to the choir, my dear. And what's your name?

[Oh goody, here comes the speel:]

It's my own invention: A Duel Monsters Card Game based on the ancient history of Egypt. They used to conduct games similar to this one, only...Well, it wasn't quite the same. I made mine a bit more user-friendly.

[Moving on now though. Can't spill all the details now, can we?]

There are many elements to Duel Monsters.~ There's just about something for everyone depending on what you like. Magic, monsters, adventurous battles, strategy, and excitement. Brain teasing but extremely good fun.

[Good thing he has his deck here with him. And a few extra. Though in hindsight...He doesn't have another deck on hand, now does he? No chance they'd have the trading card game here if he's in an entirely different world. Looks like he'll have to get to work making them. Something to do with his time, at least.]

I could teach you all about it~ Much like the name implies you use monsters to conduct duels between at least two players using a card deck composed of three types of cards: Monster, Magic, and Trap cards. Of course, I won't overwhelm you with the details right now. But maybe you could learn, hm? I promise you it's rather simple to play despite how it sounds.

I don't know... fighting monsters doesn't exactly sound like fun... [The appeal of *adventure* and *monsters* is probably lost somewhat on someone who actually does that on a regular basis.]

But I'm always willing to give something a chance, at least once.

You really ought to try it sometime...Besides, some of them are rather cute and cuddly, I think.

[True, this game was a bit more popular among boys, but girls still played, too! And, all the more reason to try!~You need something relatively harmless to balance out all that harsh physical fighting.]

I should know: I do all the art myself. Of course, once it started booming back home I almost couldn't keep up.

Well, if they're cute and cuddly, they're not really monsters, are they? [She smiles.] Do you draw then? I suppose if your game got popular, you should try to get someone to help you. Making cards for everyone would be a big job!

Hinamori-chan. What a pretty name. Are you Japanese? You are, aren't you?

Yes. Well, sort of. In a way. [She had been Japanese before she died, but once in Soul Society, nationalities became rather unimportant.]

I rather thought so.

Japan is such an interesting country...They do love their card games, you know.

Believe it or not, I'm actually fluent in Japanese. You could even say I'm a bit of a celebrity there.

[He's considered ever the extravagant foreigner.]

Well, mainly Domino City...But all over, really.

I've never heard of Domino City... but I'm not terribly familiar with all the of cities of Japan. Unless it doesn't exist in my world—I think that happens here.

[She switches to Japanese and repeats her former greeting with a bow, rather pleased to have someone who speaks her native language.]

Hajimemashite, Crawford-san.

Yes, indeed.

Oh...Well, if that is the case, then I suppose it's very possible that I might not know where you're from either, hm?

[Looks positively pleased himself, bowing in turn, if a bit less deeply. It's been a while since he was addressed so formally.]

Hajimemashite, Hinamori-chan. Douzo yoroshiku.

I honestly don't remember where I'm from. I died over a hundred years ago. The place I came from before this is known as Soul Society.

....Really? Over a hundred, you say?

I've never heard of that...

We don't interact with humans a lot, so it's not surprising that most of them haven't heard of us. Although there are stories... you've heard of shinigami, right? That's what I am.

Shinigami...?

[He vaguely recalls some Japanese myths relating to that.]

A god or spirit of death?

Mm hm. After I died, I was able to become a death god, helping other souls pass on.

[He's not really sure what to make of that. But, given people canonly die in Yugioh all the time due to a card game...Besides, he essentially has waged war against death trying to resurrect his dead wife.

However, he can't be skeptical. He believes wholeheartedly in things supernatural.]

You are a guardian to the lost souls, then. Guiding them to their afterlife..Hm. I hadn't realized there could be...Other orchestrators of fate and death besides those I've already known, but you know, it rather makes sense. Does this place have other such beings?

You mean, are there others like me? Or other... non humans. Both, I think—well, definitely yes to the first one, but I don't know about the other one.

Hm. I wonder if I shall meet them...? I'd like to know what sort of secrets this island has.

Along with what sort of people it has residing on it. Surely there must be a reason that I'm here...
