While being told that there are monsters that roam in the dark is alarming, being told that it is 2012 is even more so.

I would like a better explanation than the one I was given.

Ah... no, not...really, I suppose. But sometimes I wish it was a dream. It seems the most terrible of things happen here as though they were commonplace, and it smells... the whole city reeks of sorrow.

Would you care to explain?

...The people Pulled here aren't always kind. There are many kinds of magic—some of them cruel. Some of the people who live here hate us—and with good reason. We don't belong here.

The monsters... they aren't just monsters. They're like... souls, trapped by the same force thats trapped us here. I've tried to bury them, and I can't. They simply disappear back into the Darkness to be reborn.

[She smiles apologetically.] F-forgive me. I'm not doing a very good job of explaining myself. It has it's good sides, too, this place. It's not all bad.

Miss Hinamori. What else have you heard about the Darkness?

Oh, I've heard lots of things—I don't know how many of them are true, though. I say they're like souls, but they're not made up from the same sort of spiritual energy as in my world, so I don't really understand them. I know there are quite a few people who run around after dark looking for mischief—the doctors here get rather annoyed with that. [She smiles, amused, and then it falls into a worried frown.]

It seems whatever force is holding us here doesn't want to let go of us, even after we die—some say people who die here are turned into the Darkness, and then, apparently, sometimes people come back to life? And there are some who say that there's a 'Big Mother' out there, that the Darkness obeys her.

Even your hearsay is useful. What has what you've seen first-hand, matched up with these rumors?

Well, yes, as much as I have seen. I... don't make it a point to go out investigating.
