Oh, I've heard lots of things—I don't know how many of them are true, though. I say they're like souls, but they're not made up from the same sort of spiritual energy as in my world, so I don't really understand them. I know there are quite a few people who run around after dark looking for mischief—the doctors here get rather annoyed with that. [She smiles, amused, and then it falls into a worried frown.]

It seems whatever force is holding us here doesn't want to let go of us, even after we die—some say people who die here are turned into the Darkness, and then, apparently, sometimes people come back to life? And there are some who say that there's a 'Big Mother' out there, that the Darkness obeys her.
