Right. Been here a few months now, figure it's a good time to find a proper job. I've already gathered that no job I have here will be anything like mine at home, but I'll take what I can get. So. [Cue the charming smile.]

Police and I don't get on too well. Unless it's Gwen, of course.

Fair enough. You could still - er, well there are still security options for the local businesses.

Always an option, I suppose, though it seems like it could get a bit boring.

No, she's at home. I do have a few friends here, though.

I think that would depend on where you were employed. Newcomer businesses get a lot of harassment from the companies and from anti newcomer groups.

What would you consider to be a ... not-boring job? Besides the one that you had back home, I mean.

Oh! Well it's good that you have friends here. I mean...as good as your friends being here can be, what with the dangerous situations and everything.

One that doesn't consist of me staying in the same place all day and involves a gun.

[A slight laugh.] They can handle themselves in most any dangerous situation, don't worry.

Unless you're planning on robbing everyone on the island... bodyguarding will probably be your best bet. But even there I'm not sure how much of that would require you to be in one place or not.

Nothing terribly exciting, I'm afraid! I work the night shift at Purgatory, as a waitress. Mornings I help my stepsister with her cleaning business. Cleaning homes.

Sounds a bit more exciting than sitting around a flat.

Exciting? [ SHe laughs. ] I don't know about that. I'm pretty sure some people would consider it kind of mundane.

Sure some nights it gets a little rowdy, when someone has a little too much - I guess the most exciting part is when it's time to leave.

Right. But I make do - I don't have much choice there.

I just have to be a little more careful in the evenings, that's all.
