video; oo8 (saturday before sirens)
[Greetings, Siren's Port. The face you'll be seeing is one that vanished from the Port a few days ago, but more than that it just... looks different. Older and younger all at once, free of the weight and pain that had been lining it before, the stress and insanity. Instead, in its place, is pure relief. As if the weight of the universe had been lifted off his shoulders.
Oh. And he looks like he might have just fallen through a window.]
Siren's Port? I'm really... this is the Port? Again? Now...? [His voice is strained, shaky, as if he's just about to completely lose control of his emotions] How... how long was I gone? Was it that long? Days? Months?
Is everyone still here? Jack? Washu? Jubilee? All you angel blokes?
... Rose?

voice.
[But there's nearly a smile in his tone. He understands that much, even if he didn't really have anyone here. Just the thought that maybe... maybe he'd be able to see them again if they came back.]
That's an important thing to have. Perhaps the one thing this place is able to provide beyond everywhere else.
voice.
[He agrees, his voice wavering a bit and thick with the emotion that thought brings up]
You have no idea how good it is to hear that right now.
voice.
[It's genuine concern, and curiosity. Other worlds had different histories, different happenstances...]
voice.
I was supposed to die, just now. Turned out I managed to save myself.
voice.
Congratulations.
[Saving the world was definitely nothing to scoff at. Still, he couldn't help but question...] Wouldn't it be better to stay, though? In your own world, if you managed to save both it and yourself?
If you saved it... the people there must be important as well.
voice/private.
The people there, on Earth. They're brilliant. I'd give everything for them, to keep them safe, but... they don't need me any more. They've moved on, they're helping themselves, now. They have their protectors, people watching over them, keeping them safe even if they don't know they're there.
Here... I have people I've lost. People I can't ever see again. [He chuckles, then] I know, probably a strange reaction to this place, being happy when so many want to just go home, get out. But... this place lets the impossible happen. It's a place where lost things can be found.
voice/private.
As such, his tones gentles with a smile.]
No, I understand. It sounds a bit like retirement, really. At least to somewhere you might have wanted to go to see people you want to see.
[Because Darkness, what. He's actually gotten so used to it that it doesn't bother him anymore. And he doesn't bother with SERO or AGI, either. No, this place seemed more like a pit stop.]
voice/private.
Isn't doing anything close to retiring, actually]
Nnnnoooooo no no no no. Trust me, nothing like retirement. More of a... well, a bit of a vacation. A drawn out adventure with a bit of rest and relaxation thrown into it.
But not retirement
voice/private.
It doesn't sound like you're quite ready to stop saving the world yet, there.
voice/private.
voice/private.
[Unless this place becomes the reason this world needs saving, like the Core exploding or something and spilling all the highly powered people across the rest of this world.]
This being a vacation might mean you would still have to leave the people here behind eventually.
