I have a question for the other newcomers who came here normal. No, I'm sorry, I don't mean that many of you are abnormal—I'm talking about powers.

[She stretches a hand out before here for a moment.]

There's never been anything that special about me. Not in that way. But they say that after being here for a while, some newcomers can do things they couldn't do before. Like heroes in comic books. But I always thought special powers were like Superman's, you know? Really obvious stuff.

But...things have been happening lately. When I'm studying for class and want to find something in a textbook, I can always find it right away, whether I've read it before or not. And when I'm tidying up the apartment, I just know where things are. And that's harder than you think when Tenma's been a little messy. It's happened often enough that I know it's not my imagination.

Do you think it's possible for something like that to be a 'power'?

Sure. You have more experience with them than I do.

Well, I've certainly had more violent introductions to them...

Anyway, if I had to guess? Perfect spatial awareness, possibly with a touch of precog and maybe even a type of kinesis. It might not be fully developed, so... it could still evolve.

I don't see how this could be violent. [Heh. She considers it for a moment.] It's definitely more than spatial. I wanted to find information on a particular case and I knew exactly what page it was on—even where on the page.

[He stares at the screen, considering her and her statement.

His left hand goes up to his head and twists the screw embedded in his skull. Once, twice, three times, and then an audible clunk as it locks into place.]

[Man, this worries him. Just a little. Not because powers are bad or anything like that, but he's still... scared.]

...So. Does that mean you found where my pen went? [Grins.]

[Jubilee nods.]

That's why I added the precog. [She stops and sighs.] Sorry, precognition, You just... know it. And, I may turn out to be wrong. But it's the best guess I've got.

Just...finding things? It's not normal, I suppose, but it doesn't seem very special.

You're not really thinking things through. Being able to 'just find things' is the sort of power that could get you targeted and killed very quickly. Imagine if you decided to be a police officer, or a spy.

Like a psychic? It'd be funny to think of myself like that. I can't do anything like the woman who does the horoscopes.

I don't want to do that.

[Jubilee starts painting her nails.]

Mmm. Well, it has a lot of connotations. There was one in my world who was... well, she could probably tell you what pair of underwear you were going to wear on any given day. [She shrugs.] But there are other strengths to it, ya know? Look at it this way, it'll make studying easier. [Grin.]

It would be a logical use of your powers.

I'm not going to spy on anyone. And I don't want to be a police officer—I want to be a lawyer.

Wow. [Creepy.] Studying would be really easy if could always remember anything, but knowing where I can find information will help, too.

Well, I'm no expert on the legal system, but I'm sure being able to find all the evidence for a case will be useful. Or, failing that, all the loopholes in the law.

Destiny was a piece of work. I didn't know her personally, just through others.

[Except she'd almost met the woman once.]

Yeah. It's a subset of the precognitive abilities, I think. And it'd cut down on research time. Give you more time to have some fun.

I don't think loopholes are something you can just find...you have to sort of create them yourself.

Of course it's possible. And trust me, some of this stuff wasn't so obvious to me when I was starting out.

It just seems like you should be able to tell right away whether something's a power and not just being lucky.

What you're describing sounds like clairvoyance. Have you tried to test it?
