The sling is occupied by a lump that is invisible to most, save for a hot pink mohawk and a hot pink collar with a little silver hammer shaped tag dangling from it. The hellhound looks plump and happy to everyone who can see her.]

This- [He speaks with his head bent over the hellhound] -is Thora. Say hello, Thora-

[He helps her wave a faintly pink paw at the NV and she tries to nip his fingers in retaliation]

She's kind of the best hellhound ever. [In that condescending way only thirteen year old boys are capable of. And then suddenly serious, green fire in his eyes] And if anyone were to harm her, I would put their insides onto their outsides and join her in having a nibble. Just saying.

[And then that jovial demeanor returns again.] I've been learning much about the mortal world thanks to Google- the browser of webs. But so much information conflicts. I wish to know more. Midgard and humans are so different than what I always thought.

What is it about mortals that you find the most different?

There are so many different ways in which they think, in which they exist. Even if one person thinks or is something outside the norm, there are likely others who feel or do the same things.

Though I still do not understand what a 'scene kid' is?

The freedom of the mind is a lovely thing, I have always thought.

[She has to chuckle a bit at that last one.] I am afraid that is something I myself do not understand.

Oh, pity. The pictures are quite interesting, though I am not entirely sure why one would want stripes in their hair.

It can be difficult to understand someone else's creative expression.

[She shakes her head at the question.] I am not. I am shinigami.

Shinigami. Ah! I have met a few others. Do you have a magic lawnmower, too?

[Okay, she has to laugh at that. Magic lawnmower? ~~She so needs to meet Ronald.~~]

Oh, nothing so exotic as that. This is the first time I've heard of a shinigami bearing such a weapon; perhaps the wielder is from a different world than mine.

No magic chainsaws, either?

[Huffs] Perhaps so, then. Do you collect souls?

I cannot say I've heard of a released zanpakutou taking on that sort of form, either. [Though to her, it seems more likely than the lawnmower thing.] Though each one is as different as their wielder.

We protect them, and see that they make it to their proper place.

Zanpakutou? What is that?

[He half smiles] That sounds a grave responsibility. Do you enjoy it?

'Soul-Cutter.' The weapon of shinigami in my world, which can sever the connection to the actions from a corrupted soul -- but only acts committed after death. [Here, she lifs an elegant-looking nodachi as an example.] The sealed form is always a blade of some kind, but when released, each can take on a different form. They are quite varied.

I rarely see the front lines of combat in my position. All shinigami are trained in combat, but comparatively few have the talent to heal. It is where I am more needed.

That does seem useful. And rather interesting- especially the magics behind the blade and the transformation. [He's curious, interested.] And the actions, once severed from this corrupted soul, allow it to ah... pass on?

Are many souls corrupted? What happens if you cannot save them?
