Hey. Ah. I know everyone else has been doing this lately, but...I guess we all have to say something, huh?

[Hiccup looks away from the feed for a moment, visibly torn between what he should be doing. At the same time, there's this sense of unwavering resolve that comes to the surface.]

Guys? [Hesitation gets to him, but he pushes to continue.] I gotta go. [He strokes Toothless' head.] We need to go back.

The last time I went home, I came upon a very big, terrible discovery. And this happened the night before the final dragon test I have to go through. I know what happens. Astrid told me. I just...I have to go through with it, you know?

[Toothless gives the boy a nudge. A low gurgling purr clutters the sound for a moment. Hiccup laughs weakly, regaining his balance before looking back at the feed.]

So... [He draws in a quick breath, puffing out his cheeks.] That's it.

...Astrid?

A relatively simple venture. Though I had thought you had tamed dragons, given your bond with Toothless.

That's the thing. I know I've been told that taming dragons is good, but I don't think everyone at home is going to agree with that at this particular point in time. So I have to see how that unfolds first.

I see, well in my world dragons are far too independent minded to ever be truly tamed. Though some have I achieved I suppose a certain level of civilization.

They're that much tougher to deal with?

Well, some can change forms and use magic and speak. Most of the other ones easily make Toothless seem quite small in comparison.

You're right. Toothless is a bit on the small side. I've seen big dragons, but none of them could do any of that.

It is probably for the best. Dragons only seem to lecture when you speak to them anyway, one in particular was always annoyingly insulting.

Huh. I guess I should be thankful our dragons just want to try eating our food rather than talking down to us.

I know a sorceress who was quite obsessed with food. I think she would give most dragons a run for their money. In fact she hunted down a large Lake dragon on the belief she'd get to eat it. She succeeded in hunting it down, though because of time delays she was unable to actually partake in any of her hard labour.

[He seems rather bemused about that]

...You know some of the weirdest people. That's also kind of scary...wait, she was that gullible?

Quite true. No, not so much gullible as unlucky. You see it would take at the very least a month of preparation before they could safely drain the poison out, and she was on a quest for an important magic book called the Claire Bible.

Gods, that sounds complicated. I'm guessing this Bible was pretty important too, right?

It had magical knowledge that was unknown to most for many centuries. Though most only had partial manuscripts or copies with select passages.

No wonder it was sought out. Still, anything filled with deep dark secrets was stowed away for good reason.
