Distraction is certainly one word for it.

I would imagine some would venture more towards 'educational'.

It's an interesting thought... were we shown what happened so that we have a stake in what will come? Or was it merely a stable time loop perpetuating itself and ensuring what was meant to come to pass did?

All such things serve only to ensure their own propagation. Otherwise, there would be no reason and Time would wipe such a thing out of existence.

The crows are gathering. Something is coming. What more can be said? These helpings of the truth, the real story... it builds to a head. What do you make of it, Eraqus?

What truths we know for certain are slim at best. And for who's benefit do we now know these things? Why witness that first fall of Darkness?

Attempting to divert the course of time has ever been a futile endeavour. All things have their fixed point, so why move us back?
