[The video feed reveals a young girl, one with crimson colored eyes and two long, blonde twin tails tied up in black ribbons. She's dressed in an ornate dress of black, white, and red. In addition to that, she is wearing an extremely annoyed look on her face.

I had hoped to not be forced to use this device, but it seems this city is beyond even my ability to escape. It is quite troublesome, really. I've no time to waste lollygagging around a city as uncouth as this.

[Her voice is refined and cultured, the type that is used to talking down to others. While she looks young, the sound of her voice makes it more difficult to determine her actual age. Nothing about her mannerisms is remotely youthful.]

And yet it would seem I've little choice. I cannot return home, and I appear unable to simply hide myself away, so as loathsome as the idea is, I will have to be a part of what passes as 'society' here. I do not much look forward to it.

[Judging by the sound of her voice, she doesn't seem to think too much of what she's seen so far. A sigh escapes her lips.]

Those of you who I deem worthy of my time may call me Rachel Alucard. Those who I do not deem worthy of such shall be summarily ignored.

I do not think any of us are happy to be here.

I know that I, most assuredly, am not. This place is far too crowded for my tastes, though I should say that is only one of many problems it has.

You mean the Darkness?

Not precisely, but that would certainly rank high among things to dislike about this abhorrent city. While I do not have as much to fear as some may, it doesn't change the fact that it makes the evening so dreadfully boring.

I'm told there's something out there for everyone.

[A sigh escapes the girl. It is not addressed to her conversation partner, though that may be difficult to tell.]

I have seen death more times then I can count, but it has yet to find a way to lay its hands on me. I rather doubt that the creatures here would manage to do it. Still, I do not fancy myself some sort of mindless 'hero', so I've no intention of wasting my time with them, either.

You're immortal? [His eyes widen, slightly, surprised.]

[She doesn't sound particularly proud of it, it is said as if she were merely stating a fact.]

Or at the very least, I've found nothing yet capable of ending my life. Thankfully, it is not something that has been frequently attempted. I should rather like to keep it that way.

The Darkness may test that.

It is precisely as you say. The Alucard family is prominent and I am its head. While I suppose that may mean less here, a lady will not cease being a lady simply because of a change in scenery.

Of course. Just because the exact thing from back home isn't here, that doesn't mean you aren't someone important. Would you like to be called Lady Alucard?

[Either he's just sucking up or he actually has manners. In the end, the difference doesn't really matter to Rachel.]

That will do nicely. It is pleasant to see that not all of the people in this city are the mindless barbarians that they appear to be from the outside. What name do you claim for yourself?

The correctness of your statement is one that shall need thorough testing before I can believe it. As for me, I have always placed much stock in first impressions. I cannot say that a good one was made on me from what I have seen. Still, I am not without hope. I would much prefer to not be here, but I am, as they say, attempting to 'make the best of it'.

Normally I would agree with you, with first impressions. But most people come here scared, confused, usually sick from the pull, and there's really no way to make a good first impression on anyone. I'd give them a second chance. That's what this place really is, you know. A second chance.

Well, you are not the only one who has said something to that effect. And as I said, I intend to try and have a place in this city. It appears I have no choice in being here, sadly, and while I am not the sort of person who really enjoys being around others a great deal, there are bound to be some interesting sorts around here. Diamonds, buried deep in the dirt that is our lovely city. It is that hope that makes it worth not simply keeping to myself.

They must keep to themselves, because I've seen little to lead me to that conclusion. Still, I imagine you've more time spent here then I, so perhaps it would be unwise to dismiss your words without seeing for myself if there is some truth in them.

They probably do. Too many ragamuffins in the world, and not enough civility, most especially when it comes to this network. But you're right, I have spent more time on here. I'm sure you'll come to your own conclusions after talking to more people, dearie. That is truly the only way to decide anything.

[The girl's introduction itself was not all the civil, but it would be difficult to get her to admit to that.]

Hmmm. Well, we shall see, won't we? I would very much prefer to not have to deal with this. I am unaccustomed to there being anything I cannot deal with, but I will not have a whiner made of me. Besides, who can say? This might prove to be the change I needed to remove the tedium from my days.

I shall hope that you are correct about the people of this city. I do not enjoy being wrong, but in this particular situation, I believe it would be best.

Perhaps I did. It could always happen. But, sometimes, dearie, being wrong can be the best feeling in the world.
