[Video] [Backdated five days to the twenty-fifth]
[When Sheila turns on her NV, she's standing over her kitchen stove. There are piles of dirty dishes in her arms and she shifts them with a soft clatter to the sink, and a feast of food sitting in a mountainous pile beside her, including some . She gives her forehead a mopping and looks ruefully into the screen.]
It hath been a long journey from the place I embark'd. To think that I once cook'd o're an open pit and had to watch my skirts afore they burst into flame. I hope that all hath attained peace at long last. And that all hath found a reason for thanks. 'Tis not quite Christmas yet, but the feast season hath begun.
I hath prepared a repast of thanks to Saint Catherine. Ye need not share my faith to join me in a cup! If any art hungry, my door remains open until sunset.
[OOC: It's just past Saint Catherine's Day, and Sheila's prepared a takeaway meal for all of her friends! This is open to action threads for any who want to come eat at her apartment.]

Re: [Video]
Are you having a party, Madame? I can help, you know? My Lady has taught me to be a good maid now.
'Tis less a party than a gathering. Art Saint Catherine's birthday and I am having a feast day! And all art welcome to partake if they so wish.
Re: [Video]
Who is Saint Catherine? Must I bring something?
[Because a feast sounds delicious]
[Video] Threadjack!
[Hattie frowns a bit, not wanting to admit Sheila's past cooking experiences were her own current experiences. She hasn't the slightest clue who St Catherine is either, but pfft. Details. She just wants to show Eponine off.]
Will there be wine?
[Then to Eponine.]
Are you nearby? I can pick you up.
Re: [Video] Threadjack!
I am in sector 7, Madame.
[She had been wandering, exploring the city.]
I don't have my uniform, though.
[She then gives a knowing smile.]
Yes, I figured as much. Of course I am always prepared for situations such as this; we can stop at my studio along the way.
Re: [Video]
[Of course they could stop. Trust Hattie to have a uniform prepared. Eponine smiles ruefully.]
It is a good job you have been rehearsing my waiting skills, no? Where shall I meet you?
[Video] -> [Private]
I see. I understand there is plenty of green out there; far too much green for my tastes. If you're anywhere near the lake, there will do.
[She switches to private.]
Actually, this will be the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet in a social gathering.
Re: [Video] -> [Private]
[She starts to walk over there, still clutching her NV-disguised-as-a-letter, so the picture on Hattie's end will be bouncing.]
What do you mean, Madame? Do you not wish me to wait on you there? I have been to parties before, you know. I went to the ball, remember?
As much as I would enjoy that, I'm afraid that is lower on the priority list.. Besides, today is your day off.
[Which she will gladly change once Eponine moves in with her, ho ho ho.]
And yes you did, but there is a difference between attending a gathering with your boyfriend and attending as a lady without. Sheila is well versed in such etiquette, of course, and the atmosphere is relaxed, so she'll make the perfect partner for you.
Re: [Video/Private]
[She adds with a mischievous laugh]
If we are to just be ladies, then, does thaat mean I can drop the 'Madame' and 'My Lady' and just call you 'Hattie'? As if we were really friends?
[ That's perhaps the most awkward question she's been asked by you yet. So she weakly laughs it off.]
Good one, Eponine. You know we will be attending as teacher and student.
Re: [Video/Private]
[Eponine's by the lake now. She hadn't been far away to begin with, and she had jogged over. She laughs as well. She hadn't expected Hattie to really say yes.]
Fine. It is as you wish.
...Madame Sheila said there was to be food. I wonder what kind. I'm so hungry, I could eat it all and more. Maybe I should find her some flowers?
[She glances around and spots a patch of dandelions and the odd daisy in the grass, and goes over]
Such as these, Madame?
[Video/Private] -> [Action]
[Hattie smiles a bit at Eponine's agreement; and decides to do her a favor. She can understand what it means to be thankful.]
We'll see soon enough, Eponine. So you wish to make a bouquet? Hold that thought.
[And she ends the feed. About fifteen minutes later a car pulls up at the road closes to the lake and Hattie steps out in a black, shearling sheepskin had and matching coat. Once she reaches Eponine, she doesn't seem nearly as impressed by the dandelions or the daisy.]
I think not. We'll stop by the flower shop on the way there.
Re: [Video/Private] -> [Action]
"Oh your coat, Madame. It is lovely. And your hat. That is what I want, I think. A matching set like that. Will we really go to a flower shop? I'll pay you back, Madame. You may take it from my wages."
There's another mischievous laugh at that.
[Action]
Well, in due time, Eponine. But you are going to need a winter coat; I don't know how you do it. And yes, we will go to the flower shop and you may choose the flowers. Under a respectable budget.
[Seventy dollars will do, she thinks. And here Hattie reveals the rub.]
Hmn. Well then, I suppose you'll have to work tonight after all, won't you? After the gathering? This way, Eponine.
[And she heads to the car.]
Re: [Action]
Is it cold, Madame? I don't feel cold at all. It is funny, that. Since I have been here, I have not been cold...
[She nods. Of course, she was going to keep under a budget. She had been thinking more along the lines of 'ten dollars', rather than an extravagant seventy.]
Than- what? Tonight?
[She follows Hattie a little reluctantly, still clutching her straggling posy.]
And walk home in the darkness?
[Sometimes, she HATES Hattie.]
[Action]
Yes, Eponine, it's freezing today. That is certainly rather.. Strange. You can still feel your fingers and toes, yes?
[She gets inside the car's back, then slides over to allow Eponine in- She has someone driving her today!]
Yes, tonight. And it'd be ridiculous to send you home, there's no point in that if you're coming back in the morning. [She points to the flowers.] Those stay outside, thank you very much.
Re: [Action]
but yes. Of course I can. To me it feels like the warmest day of summer, Madame.
[She drops the posy reluctantly, though not before untying the rag of ribbon, which she uses to scrag her mop of hair back.]
so I may stay at your house? In one of the nice rooms? That WILL be good.
[Action]
I see. And you said you were cold back in France, yes?
[She tells the driver where to go, then thinks a moment about the question. Hattie was thinking the couch would be fine, actually.]
You may stay at the house, yes. No strings attached.
Re: [Action]
But of course. France must be colder here, Madame. Or...
[Other people had powers here, did they not? Could she too have developed one? Eponine starts to grin.]
Do you have some magic, Madame? Do you think that this is the magic?
[Of course Hattie was thinking the couch. But Eponine can dream. Maybe with magic, she becomes more important? Maybe Hattie will see her as an equal if she has real magic?]
May I? Oh, it will be lovely, Madame. I will not ruin your dress this time - if you do not pour dirty water on me.

La, I hath a bottle of red - the white isn't quite as crisp, but it chills within the refrigerator.
And nay! Thou art my guests, 'twouldn't be fair to thee!
Re: [Video]
[She doesn't know what a martyr saint is.] It is strange that the church makes a feast for a criminal.
Madame Hattie is to come and collect me - so I will come with her. Thank you, Madame, for letting me come.
Re: [Video]
Sadly, it only works if ye're a great figure of sacrifice and belief.
La, I shalt see ye both presently!
