video! and many pies were lost that day...
['Sup Portians? It's that familiar up the nostrils shot while Yosuke squits down at the NV to make sure that it's on. Yep, cool. Recording. 'Cause you guys definitely don't want to miss this. It's super cool.]
Hi everyone. My name is Hanamura Yosuke if you're new and I wasn't your greeter. Feel free to ask me any questions you have, but more importantly, you should buy some pastry.
[Yep, he's totally serious about that. That's his serious face. Buy pastry, it's awesome!]
I deliver for the Funtom bakery, and I'm here to demonstrate to you how much better our pastry is than the other bakeries. For example, every pie we bring to you is thoroughly tested for acrobatic properties, you know? I'll show you.
[It turns out the NV has been mounted on...a bike helmet. Or so the shaky shot of a bike would lead you to believe. There are indeed pastry boxes stacked up in the basket. Yosuke mounts it, and kicks off. The roads here are a little bumpy, as if he's on some trail instead of the streets delivery bikes would usually stick to.]
[There's an obstacle course that's been carefully set up dead ahead. The camera shakes and shivers and the pastries are most likely jostled as Yosuke jumps over a log, does a figure eight, and starts up a big hill toward a small flags course. Except that somehow, something goes wrong. The camera seems to hiccough somehow, and the next shot is from the ground. The helmet has landed a few feet away from a stunned Yosuke, who is covered in cake icing and pie filling, and staring down at his hands in horror.]
[It takes him a second before he remembers the camera, and offers a shaky smile.]
A-as you can see, we always go the extra mile. Um. And the caramel apple pie is really good. I just tried some. You should...order before the holiday flavors are gone!
(OoC: Yosuke the friendly ghost is fading out for a canon update, guys. He'll be flickering noticeably in some replies, -fading out altogether during one at random- and trying not to freak out about it in front of potential customers. He'll be back in time for the holidays, and fully corporeal again!)

He slides down the tree trunk a little, making it conveniently easier for Nill to reach his face and get a different sort of pie filling on her hand.]
Oh.
[He swallows, nervous and nauseous and suddenly a lot more scared than he was the moment before. That's pretty damned sobering. It takes him a moment to gather himself enough again to give Nill's hand a gentle squeeze. It comes out a little weak, even to his own ears, but he promises her anyway. He's already promised not to leave without her, so he might as well stack lies on top of good intentions. It can't really get worse, right?]
I won't.

Now Yosuke was the only person left, and Nill didn't know what she would do if he disappeared. So he couldn't leave her alone. He just-- couldn't. Please, please, please...
Yosuke is lying though, and Nill can't even really blame him. It's all they do, isn't it? Another lie on top of a lie on top of a lie... A few more couldn't possibly hurt, and this is one lie that Nill desperately wants to believe.
She crouches down to kneel in front of Yosuke. She never once takes her eyes off him, as if he'll disappear if she does.]
...I love you.
[He must know that by now. Even if it's different than what most people think it should be, it's still true, and he should know that, if he somehow doesn't.]

Except instead of an alien or a worm or a lizard baby it'll be sunshine, and-oh, shit. Oh, shit not again.
Yosuke freezes where he crouches, but holding still doesn't make it stop. Something trembles in the air around him, and then the air holds still, but he isn't there with it.
Amoment later he's back again, clinging to the ground like a lifeline and panting a little. He tips forward, dizzy but otherwise completely unharmed.]
Uhn...'scuse me. Sorry. That keeps-ow. Ugh. Happening.

It doesn't work very well. He's only gone for a moment, but he's still gone, and Nill wheezes during his absence, as if all the air has been knocked out of her lungs. She can't breathe. Yosuke appears again a second later, and she still can't breathe, so instead Nill wraps her arms around him and hugs him tightly, as if that will somehow keep it from happening again.]

He's not so stunned by it that he misses Nill's embrace, though. It tugs at something in his stomach-or maybe his heart? It tugs at something anyway. Like always, she hits him right in the guts without even trying. He sits up a little, and pulls her into a real hug. He wants to comfort her, but he's terrified. The words are sticking in his throat.
Anyway, she's not stupid. It's obvious that it won't be alright, so what good is saying it anyway?]
Hey. Hey, it's...I'll remember. I promise. I'll get it right next time.
no subject
He isn't you. I don't want him to ever come back. I never want to see him again-- I just want you to stay with me.
[Yosuke didn't get anything wrong before. But next time, he needs to be the one to come back. Not some fake with his face. Especially not her senpai. Just him, that was all she wanted.]

[It's good to hear and terrible to hear at the same time. That sort of vitriol...he doesn't like the idea of being the guy who inspired it in Nill. Even if he isn't really that guy, he still sort of is. But apologizing for that guy has never helped before, so he doesn't waste the time on it now. He just tips his face forward a little until their foreheads are touching.]
Anyway, who's talking about him? I said I'll remember. So...so you don't have to be sad, alright? All of his friends are gone now, too, so why would he come back?
But I still have you. You said it before, right? You'll stay. As long as I want. So...so when I get back, you'd better still be here.
no subject
If he comes back, you won't.
[Yosuke isn't that guy at all. He's completely different, he just happens to look kind of similar.
It's true, though. Almost all the people that really cared about her senpai when he was here were gone now - only she and Gilbert were really still around, and she didn't know the extent to which Gilbert knew him.
Nill nods again. Forever. She'd promised him that, even though she didn't know if she could keep it, and neither of them had said it. The promise was there, and she would do her best. The only problem is, Nill isn't sure she believes he'll come back. She wants to - god knows she wants to, but no one else really has, so why would he?]
I'll be here.
[She doesn't know if it's a promise she can keep, but it's enough for now.
Nill takes a moment to calm herself down a little - her heart is beating at a mile a minute, adrenaline running through her veins - but after she does, she leans just a little closer to give Yosuke a brief kiss.]
STFU Yosuke...
Wait, what?!
He's still trying to sort the first thing out when...no way. No freaking way. He's almost waiting to be slapped again, but he can't be. This time it's Nill's doing.
He can't even pull it together to kiss back. Isn't even sure if he's supposed to. So he just lets himself be kissed, and reels in a whole different way than he had been a moment before.
This is it. Oh, man, he hopes she doesn't know it, but this is the first one. The first that counts, anyway. That day with Eponine was a misunderstanding, and he'd been sick. With Lisbeth there was always drinking, and it was obvious that she'd rather be kissing someone else.
But this? This makes his stomach fill with furious butterflies and his pulse speed up until it hurts and his ears ring. And she barely even gave him a little peck. If she really kisses him some day, he might just fall over dead.
And he can't think like that! Shit. She'll know. And it definitely isn't that way. She didn't mean love like...she just got confused. Love is probably like the sky, she's never seen it before, that's all.
But oh, man. How can he leave now? There's no way. He'll just have to hold on to her, and that'll keep him here. She's been his anchor before, she can do it again. That's all. He's just got to focus...]
such a noisy head >|
She didn't know it was the first, though. She doesn't even entirely understand that that's somehow meant to be special - but if it makes him feel better, makes him happy, then maybe that's a good thing.
She almost frowns. Of course Nill knows what love is. It's a little different from what most people think, but it doesn't mean she doesn't know. But Nill thinks that maybe if she holds on tightly enough, nothing will happen to him. He'll stay here and they can actually stay together. She'd give anything for that.]
I wish I knew that scene from Titanic well enough to crack jokes here
But, wait. Why is he wasting time arguing with himself? It doesn't matter right now. What matters is that he can't feel Nill's wings under his fingertips anymore. Shit.
Desperately, he pulls her in closer.]
H-hey don't let go, okay?
/shoves over
I won't.
Heh
[Because it sure would have made life easier if anyone had ever thought of that before. So, Yosuke had. There was a plan in place. He'd just been hoping that they wouldn't actually have to use it. So much for that.]
He'll take care of things. And, you...I know you'll be okay. But if something happens and you need help-
[Boy is this one a wrench.]
..Talk to Pinkman. Not on the network. But...but he owes me, and he doesn't leave people behind. He'll help you. Just don't you fall in love with him too or I'll-ah!
[Woah, it feels different this time. Crap, not now! He's not finished yet, they're not ready!]
Just wait here...I'll....just wait for me.
no subject
I wouldn't.
[Though of course, she doesn't say that that's because she's using him. And it's not like loving anyone else would mean she didn't love Yosuke. But these are things for a conversation that they'll never have, because she can feel him disappearing.]
I'll wait.
[It didn't mean she'd be here, though. Saying he'd come back was probably a lie, too. They never come back.]

For a moment, she just sits there, breathing heavily - trying her damnedest not to cry.
Then she's on her feet, and stumbling away from the scene. She had to make sure he was gone. If he were still here somehow-- she wouldn't let it be like it was with Shika, thinking he was gone even though he was still here. Not again.]
