voice;

[The voice that rings through on the communicator is authoritative, though Dani's anger shakes her voice and makes her sound less like a powerful figure from home and more like a really pissed off college student.]

The monster that's been causing problems in the Port has been destroyed. Its owner was someone in a black leather coat who was able to walk around in the Darkness with almost no trouble at all. If you see someone like that, I suggest you avoid them at all costs.

This isn't the last piece of trouble we'll have from this, I'm certain. If you go out in the Darkness, be careful. I'd suggest avoiding it altogether but if you want to go, then that's your choice.

And if you see the bastard, tell him he better hide himself a little better next time.

[As if she wasn't the one who got her ass kicked. And CLICK, there she goes.]

[ooc: part of the backlash follow up, the Heartless monster is officially dead, though there are some still around!]

[A pause, as he considers her words.]

Having encountered the beast myself, I know that must have been a hard-fought victory. [Then, a sigh of definite relief.] Thank you for sharing this news.

Indeed. Such is the term used on my world for the entities born from the darkness in people's hearts - the sum of their negativity, if you will, and they do not possess hearts of their own.

Most are considerably smaller, but no less dangerous in their own fashion.

I did. It ambushed me when I was out, not long after the sirens. It fled at the end of battle, but I'm afraid I was in no fit state to follow.

My wounds are mostly healed, though a full recovery will take time.

[Not...that this has stopped him joining patrols for the remaining Heartless. He is 'healed enough' to resume duties, in his book. stop setting a bad example, MasterDad]

Something that size was likely made - probably by the individual you saw. [Intense frown, before head shakes.] I would be happy to answer your questions. However, I would first ask how it was you took down the Heartless - ordinary weapons would have been useless against it.

It is very possible someone controls it - it is exceptionally rare for Heartless to grow to such a size alone. But I sensed no others present during its attack on me, I'm afraid. I take it you encountered its owner?

As for what it was after? Hearts, most likely. Amongst other things. Heartless are a threat to all things that live within the Realm of Light.

[There's a pause at her question. ..Does he mind Light? He keeps himself from chuckling, given the seriousness of the conversation, but he is a touch amused by that.]

Thank you. But while yours is a generous offer and I am certainly not averse to Light magics, I must decline. I should be fine within the next few days - what healing remains is best left to time itself. It is not wise to force the body to heal through excessive use of magic or healing.

[And he totally wasn't abusing Curaga this week anyway, in spite of what he just said. Nope.]

Light both attracts and repels the Darkness. The brighter the light within a heart, the more likely it would be to seek it out. The Heartless cannot bear it, and would destroy it if they could - if you are as strong in that element as you say, it is likely for that reason you were attacked.

That you brought it down speaks of your skill.

There were those in history who could do such a thing. And those from after my time, from the accounts of others from where I was from. Some were here before, and I have no doubt there are those still here that can manipulate them. Did the man you encountered say anything to you?

[Ah. Not an uncommon source of confusion.] It wanted hearts. At least, as my world knows them. From what I understand, they would be equivalent to what most worlds would consider a 'soul'. The brighter the light within a heart, the more likely the Heartless are to seek it out, take for their own, as they possess none.

The Heartless are a physical manifestation of Darkness, a force that knows only destruction.

[Spoken flatly at the end there. Bias showing much, old boy?

Then, a pause, before genuine sympathy:
] I am sorry for their loss. [Even if you CAN just replace them with new models. :|]

Hnn. [Unimpressed, but certainly not surprised by that news.]

Indeed. Light has ever been Heartless' bane. I suspect you would find the lesser ones around the city particularly taxing, but they move in greater number to make up for their lack of size and strength - though they are far stronger than an ordinary citizen here.

Where a greater host gather, perhaps it will be more likely the one you seek may appear.

[He's concerned by the numbers in the Port as it is, though little of that carries in his voice. ..But they will be dealt with in due time.]

[She can't see it, but his head dips slightly in acknowledgement - her meaning isn't what he takes it to be, but as world differences go, it can't be too dissimilar..?] May the Light hold their Hearts safe.
