I really am Dr. Franken Stein, and this is not a Halloween costume.

So, why all the deaths?

[She's starting to doubt anyone around here counts as a "normal" person, so she sees no harm in telling him.]

It was built on a Hellmouth. They generally attract demons and vampires.

[Now, Stein's not from a world with actual demons and vampires or 'hell', but he has a general idea of what she means.

And he's still confused.]

Was there some reason they couldn't just move the school?

The Mayor probably wouldn't let them. High schools are a good source for demon and vampire prey, particularly virgins.

Your mayor encouraged non-humans killing and eating teenagers?

Yes. I didn't vote for him.

I can't imagine many humans would.

[noshrimp]

Most humans didn't know his plans. He was very personable.

And there's no higher authority keeping track of non-humans getting into politics?

Not really. He's dead now, anyway.

I helped. Initially. I certainly gave vital information.

But the rocket launcher wasn't your idea.

They wouldn't have even known they needed a rocket launcher without my information.

Now, what kind of creature requires a rocket launcher?

A giant snake.

[circumsutus]

The mayor was a giant snake and no one noticed.

He turned into a giant snake. He was a human. Keep up.

Transformation between human and animal forms is rare where I'm from. We're used to giant snakes staying giant snakes.

I prefer a lack of giant snakes.

Which explains the rocket launcher.

It was going to eat the entire graduating class.

I didn't say it was a bad thing.
