I don't know about the same world. Eli took in Jesse without any problem and I'm pretty sure he's not from the same world, and neither am I. Maybe it used to be different.

They have a cute side that is also deceiving evil. Like cats really, only with the reproduction rate of bacteria and the appetite of shrews.

That does sound a lot like the movie creatures, except they stop being cute after you feed them after midnight. I always got hung up on details like "midnight where" and "what about daylight saving time" and "when is it safe to feed them again, because technically it's always after midnight."

Don't get me started, by the time it's over we'd have to sit down and try to figure out how it's physiologically possible for a creature to evolve due to a time + diet formula.
