[ There's a lot going on in the Port right now, but a one Sam Winchester doesn't care. He's only been missing for two days, but he looks as if he's been gone for months. The changes are slight, in his physical appearance. His demeanor, though... is another story. And when he goes to send out a message to his brother, he's not quite put together enough to manage the secure connection. ]

Your NV's still connected, so you've gotta still be here. Right?

[ "It's okay, Dean. It's gonna be okay. I've got him." ]

I went home, for... a while. Now I'm back.

[ There's an understated "Can you come and get me?" ]

[ Well, that. Was alarming. He leans back almost instinctively, put very much on edge by Chuck's reaction. ]

I'm alright. [ Better now that he's back here, anyway. ] Since I was brought here again. Guess I was better off not knowing, after all.

[He bites his lip, looking at Sam sadly. This- this is heart-wrenching. No matter how many times they return to this point.]

Sam, do you really think Dean and Cas would let you rot down there?

[There's a little more emphasis on "Cas", albeit accidentally.]

Cas told me I get out. Somehow. [ He adds the last bit on, since it's still on his mind; he hadn't pressed the angel to tell him how he'd escaped. Not yet. ] That Lucifer and Michael are still down there. ... Didn't think it was possible, though.

Well, of course he told you that, he was being modest. He pulled you out single-handedly. Like someone lifting a car off their kid.

He-- What? [ He assumed Cas had something to do with it, but-- ] I mean, he... he was the one who it said it was impossible. So, he figured out a way?

... He's okay, right? After that?

He didn't figure out a lot, he pretty much steamrolled his way in and did it out of pure force of will.

So- it's not the end. It's not death. You come out of it okay.

[Based on how far into the future Chuck has seen, that's actually a lie- he's seen Cas go crazy, and Sam's first hallucination of Lucifer, but. There's nothing wrong with a lie like this. The poor guy deserves some peace of mind.]

I know. I heard. [ He feels like a broken record. And yes, he's glad to hear that he doesn't burn in Hell forever, but... what about the others? Everyone else? Rarely, if ever, did they get through something like this without serious repercussions. ]
