It's been more than a year since I got here. To be honest, I completely forgot the date. It's not really the kind of thing that you remember, when you have other things on your mind-- like why you keep waking up on the same day. [ Sheepish smile. ]

I've met a lot of people this past year, and I've seen a lot of things. I could disappear from the Port any time-- maybe years from now, maybe tomorrow-- but I hope I get to remember everything, even if I do. Until that happens, I'll just have to keep moving forward. There's still a lot for me to learn.

[ Judging by the way Yako pauses, that seems to be all she has to say about that. A lot has changed, and though she isn't normally one to mark anniversaries, enough has happened in the past few days that she thinks it deserves noting. Instead of her office, she's making the post from her kitchen-- she hasn't left home just yet.

Absently, she tucks a bit of hair behind her ear, moving it out of her face. ]

I've seen a couple of people post about Valentine's Day, and I know not everybody celebrates it, but... if anyone wants me to, I could show them how to make chocolate and bake some things. It won't be anything fancy, but a gift's always different if it's hand-made, right? I was just thinking of doing it at my house, but it might be easier if we could find a bigger kitchen to work in.

[ Yako's face looks like she she's imagining a thousand and one ways Neuro could use the holiday as an excuse to do something terrible. Unfortunately, she also knows that Neuro will probably exceed her expectations. ]

Oh? [ he tilts his head at her with his usual assistantly innocence, but he does seem to be faintly amused at the suggestion. ] Do you have a lead, Sensei?

Not specifically, but if last year's holiday was anything to go by... [ She trails off, then gets serious. ] There were a number of murders in the days leading up to it.

[ Now that is interesting. Nothing like that had happened during the one Valentine's he'd experienced, but that had been in just a small part of Earth, after all... ]

People just get so full of emotions, I suppose... How unfortunate!

[ then he flips it to private. It was a little exasperating to talk to her like that when he wasn't getting immediate entertainment from it. ] But there is nothing of interest so far. Shall I get my hopes up for a special Valentine's treat of my own? Although, should nothing happen, I will have no choice but to slow-roast your porky self over a pit for six hours instead...

A lot of weird things usually happen around all the holidays around here. Something will turn up, sooner or later... I just can't say exactly when.

[ The threat earns Neuro a full-body cringe, Yako edging away from the camera's line of sight as though Neuro can reach through and make good on that promise. ]

Oho, you're correct. In Japan, I don't recall so much excitement. Are Canadians more vicious than the Japanese? If so, we should move here.

[ food on his mind, as always. And if Yako thinks he couldn't reach through and make good on his word, she needs to spend a few more years around him... ]
