[The following text will be received by basically anybody Axel gives a damn about. If you are not certain you are in this circle, the criteria are as follows: 1.) you have spoken more than ten words with Axel on three or more occasions, 2.) these words were not fighting words, 3.) names have been exchanged, and 4.) you are not a raging gigantic douchebag (Saïx has a get out of jail free card on this one). Roll call, guys; olly olly oxenfree. Seems we might have another hunt going on right now, so if you don't answer this within two hours consider yourself warned that I'll be portaling into your house to check on you whether you like it or not.

[ooc: i'm not actually expecting every single person Axel is pals with to respond, so if you'd prefer it just be assumed that is fine too. alternatively, if you'd like for Axel to portal into your house and scare your roommates, that is also fine, just let me know! XD]

Good, glad you're still with us. You don't know anything about where these hunts happen, do you? Like where you were taken? I've been trying to find out more information on the hunters, but so far as I know everyone who participated in the last one is dead.

[You're about to hit Gohan's stubborn button. It's another few minutes before he can figure out what to say.]

Axel, don't take this too far.

[He's not in the mood for stubbornness, Gohan. He's fed up with these shenanigans and he wants to find a way to put an end to them, but he keeps finding himself stymied. And it's really starting to get on his nerves.]

Good. Look, I know I haven't said much since the last one happened--didn't want to bring it up again, honestly, but it looks like they've brought it up again regardless. If there's anything you can tell me about where you guys were, or about the people who hunted you, anything at all, I'd appreciate the info. I'm not sure my poking around will be of much use, but I'm sick of just sitting around doing nothing.

I'm honestly not sure; the people who have been victims have been understandably tight-lipped about the whole situation... It's a bit exasperating, honestly, even if it's a reasonable reaction.

Yeah, I guess it's like- who'd really want to talk about it, but...

I hate to suggest The Buddy System--there's just something so junior high about it--but it might not be a bad idea until we get a better idea of what their prerequisites are.

Didn't Roxas tell me the Organization did the buddy system? That's how you two met?

[He pauses a moment, then fiddles a moment with a filter and there's an almost palpable tone of sulk in his voice.]

[And that is as close to an actual apology for what happened as you're ever going to get.]

[But the sarcasm stops there, because he made a promise to Roxas and Xion, and he's been trying so hard to keep it civil]

They gave you a lousy mission.

[He's less surprised by the civility than he though he'd be, actually. Funny the way caring about the same people can make allies of enemies, however begrudging the alliance may remain.

[He gives a bit of a bitter scoff.]

Yeah, I always got stuck with the icky orders. I should've told Xemnas to shove it a long time ago, but... well, you know what they say about hindsight.

You could've at least told Marluxia and Larxene to shove it sooner. You knew they had a lousy plan.

Hey, now, that was strategic; I had to get them to dig their own graves before I could help Sora put them there, you know? Would'a looked way too suspicious otherwise, gimme a break.

He lost most of his memories, and Riku says it took almost a year to get them back.

[There's some indignation here.]

Yeah, and? You make it sound like that was my fault,too. Look, I'm not claiming to be blameless for what happened in Castle Oblivion, but gimme a little credit. In the end I gave Sora all the help I could, you know? It's not like your ledger isn't a little smeared, so lay off.

[That indignation is cresting into genuine irritation. Gettin' real sick of your shit, Joe. Who the hell does he think he is?] And I come without a heart or feelings or a conscience, what's your point? We were both used and manipulated. At least the person who used you like a tool wasn't--

[Wasn't someone who used to be your best friend. Wasn't someone who then hurt the people you care about. Wasn't someone who left you for dead. Axel literally has to bite his tongue; it's unusual for him to get genuinely irritated with anyone--he's fairly unflappable--but somehow the replica attempting to cop out of what happened really rustles his jimmies.

[No, he's not going to start a fight. It's not worth it. This is stupid and petty and he's not going to give Joe the satisfaction of hearing him lose his temper.]

You know what, forget it. Just frigging forget it.

[And he just disconnects before that ragged, terse edge can really taint his tone. If Joe wants to call him back he'll answer, but he's done with this conversation as it is. He's glad Joe didn't get ganked for the hunt, but that's as much damn as he's got to give right now.]

Good, Joe said you guys were all home, but it's always good to have confirmation. And yeah, I'm fine. I dunno what sort of criteria these bastards look for in their 'game' but it seems I haven't made the list yet.
