[already the video looks much clearer and focused since the last time she's used this. She's learning, but may be holding it a bit too close]

I believe I am growing accustomed to my new surroundings. This is thanks in large part to the guidance of others who also live here. I thank you all for that.

I will do my part in living in this world for as long as I must. Please let me know if I can repay your kindness in small chores.

What about living arrangements? You're probably getting close to your time being up at the Towers. [And while the two things are intertwined, having somewhere safe to be at night outweighs the need for a job.]

I can make due outside if necessary.

[She frowns a little.] You wouldn't be able to get any sleep at night that way.

Because of that strange noise? [meaning the siren]

[Shakes her head.] No. Because of all the things that come out after it.

What sort of things?

[Good heavens, girl, have you even so much as looked out the window after dark? How someone can have been here for more than a few days and not know anything about what's out there in the Darkness frankly amazes her. But that doesn't show more than a lifted brow on her part.]

The vast array of monsters that the Darkness brings. You'd be too busy just trying to ensure they don't kill you to get any rest.

Look, if worst comes to worst, there's space where I live. [Yeah, there are shelters, but those places aren't exactly safe. The amount of times she's been called out to one of those because of assaults, or murders, or rapes . . . Ugh.] It's not much better than where you are now, but it keeps the Darkness out, at least.

I have been running from such creatures for a while before I even came here.

And I'd been fighting creatures like them since long before I came here, too. It doesn't mean I think it's a wise decision to try and stay outside with them all night, every night.

Then why not defeat them so we all rest easy?

If that would help, I'd do it. But they don't stay dead. They'll return night after night no matter how many times they're defeated.

Then there must be a stronger power controlling them.

The same force that keeps us all here, so it's been said.

Is it a force we can battle against?

None have successfully found a way thus far. I hesitate to say outright that it can't be done, but there are so many of us who don't want to be here, and if they'd found a way to fight it, them perhaps none of us would be.

[Not that she's sure she has a world to go back to. Though she wonders occasionally if she should be there regardless. What is death, really, besides something she'd well-earned with her old life?]

Even so, I do not believe we should give up.

Perhaps not, but in the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to have a safe place to sleep at night. It's up to you; the offer's open.
