[Hiccup is busy. It's not often one gets to see him so engrossed in doing things. He appears to be threading something together, maybe even reinforcing the edge of the saddle that usually stays on the dragon's back. As a few more stitches are made, he stops, checking over his work.

It's not long before the Viking boy will find himself with company. A large black shape slinks in behind him, large green eyes glancing over at the NV-rock before the dragon peers over at Hiccup.

The boy doesn't appear to notice, muttering to himself as he goes back to sewing.

Toothless peers over his arm for a few seconds, then pulls back. It's not long before he does so again, this time having come around the other side.

Without looking up, Hiccup wrinkles his nose.]

Toothless– hey. What are you–

[Green eyes glance to one side, then the other.]

–I'm sorta in the middle of finishing this–

[Big green eyes stare at him a moment before Toothless pulls his head back again. Maybe he's leaving Hiccup alone to finish up?

Seconds pass as Hiccup blinks, checking either side once more. Although slightly puzzled, he eases himself back into his sewing.]

...Okay. Good boy.

[It's several minutes before the dragon reappears. This time he settles his chin over Hiccup's head. From here he watches a while, and it becomes apparent just how comfortable he's gotten as he yawns and closes his eyes.

And as Hiccup finds himself hunched under the weight of the dragon's head, he sighs. This makes sewing impossible.]

Looks like you've got company.

[He'd nod, but it's difficult to do with a Toothless there.]

Well. I can't do much about it, either.

I bet he just wanted to play.

[Pause...]

J-Just make sure he doesn't make you move down too much, especially while you're holding a needle!

Seems like it. We did go out today, but I guess he can get bored pretty fast.

[He tries to straighten up.]

Urgh. Easier said than done. Maybe I can set this aside, though. I doubt I can do anything with him dozing off like this.

Out? Oh, like - can you take him flying here? It must be pretty amazing.

Y-Yeah, it might be better to put it away for a while, at least while he's like that. What are you working on, anyways?

We've been trying. Annnd sorta failing, but it's getting there.

It's the saddle. [He holds it up, turning it from one side to the other.] Leather is durable, but I think this is taking a major beating on the edges.

S-Sorta failing? But you haven't gotten hurt, right?

A major beating? What happened to it?

From crashing. But it's all small cuts and bruises, minor things. Nothing too serious.

I guess every time we go out to fly, it gets damaged. Especially from the crashes.

Have you figured out why you keep crashing yet?

I'm...not as good at flying as I'm suppose to be.

You shouldn't just blame yourself, you know!

But it is! At the same time that it isn't, if that makes any sense.

How can it be both at once?

It's. Ah. How do I explain this...

Well, I currently don't know much about flying. But I've been told I could do it no problem? And yet I'm still getting the hang of it.

That's still not your fault, though!

...Yeah, I guess not. Hopefully this will change.

I'm sure it will! Um, the person who told you that, did they give you any advice? On flying and stuff?

[There's a pause.]

No, not really. It was rough encouragement.

Rough? What do you mean by that?

For one, it's coming from, um, Astrid. [He hastily adds:] But she means well!

...How rough was it?

Not...physically rough. Just some of the usual bluntness to get myself in gear.

Does that actually help?

It does. Sometimes.
