So another Gothamite leaves us with more questions than answers. I'm not sure if anyone could call themselves friends with Mr. Nygma, but he's gone, regardless. This was found carved into a table in his flat. He could have left a harder one, to be honest.

And yet, perhaps he's better off than us.

Hardly. Committing a murder is simple. The cover up is what brings out the genius of the criminal. If, of course, they possess any.

How would you say that a murder is simple?
Could not one make it more than just that, or is all of the higher thinking reserved for the cover up?

Pull a trigger, cut with a knife, push down the stairs. Even the use of poison isn't terribly clever or even difficult in itself. The machinations of the mind, on the other hand, take more skill.

And what would constitute murder, in your world? I've found spells aren't to difficult to deduce, either.

A great variety of means. A murder is simply the premeditated and unlawful killing of another sentient being, after all. There are as many ways to do so as there are stars in the sky, should one be creative.

You would consider a lack of a body to be a part of the cover-up, but in some cases it is the result of the murder itself. How do you deduce, then?

Where I'm from, bodies don't just vanish without traces. Law of equivalent exchange. Though here, removal of the heart has proven rather mysterious.

Has it? And what are the symptoms of such a removal?

Sociopathy, mostly. At least in the cases of bodies not just entirely disappearing.

There are only a select group of people who refer to alternate universes as "worlds" here. The group becomes smaller when you add the specificity of bodies vanishing after death.

And from people in that group, I learned only people with extreme proficiencies in darkness or in light are aware of other worlds. You speak like you have great knowledge of these matters. We've had people like that here before.
