A hounding color, silver's lesser sister
Has a breath along the way, a cease.
This public chariot yields a final pause
Like Schubert did in older annuals.
But this cross borne hit more than a note sooner:
And its travels are Frosted in path.
So another Gothamite leaves us with more questions than answers. I'm not sure if anyone could call themselves friends with Mr. Nygma, but he's gone, regardless. This was found carved into a table in his flat. He could have left a harder one, to be honest.
And yet, perhaps he's better off than us.
[And that's the closest he'll get to publicly acknowledging recent affairs.]
Feel free to solve it yourself.

Red herring. Proper nouns thrown among others to seem important. The first two lines are what are really crucial to deciphering the rest. His American citizenship shows in it, too.

So you've cracked it then?

Not terribly long after Carrie found it. I just wanted to see if anyone had the mental audacity to figure it out, especially with new arrivals coming in. Apparently not.
[No offense meant towards John, of course.]

It's not a lab hat, then?
no subject
Not quite. The riddle seems to be eluding to a bus stuck somewhere. "Silver's lesser sister" refers to grey, and "public chariot" is clearly some sort of transportation. An American busliner is called Greyhound.

How do you even know that?
no subject
I have been to America, you know. Suffice it to say they dislike more about me than throwing one of their CIA agents out a window.

Maybe.

[ because there are some things john really doesn't want to know. especially when he smiles like that. ]

Noted.
