So another Gothamite leaves us with more questions than answers. I'm not sure if anyone could call themselves friends with Mr. Nygma, but he's gone, regardless. This was found carved into a table in his flat. He could have left a harder one, to be honest.

And yet, perhaps he's better off than us.

Red herring. Proper nouns thrown among others to seem important. The first two lines are what are really crucial to deciphering the rest. His American citizenship shows in it, too.

Not terribly long after Carrie found it. I just wanted to see if anyone had the mental audacity to figure it out, especially with new arrivals coming in. Apparently not.

[ of course not. john seems to have abandoned the riddle, anyway – he's sticking to crosswords from now on. ]

Not quite. The riddle seems to be eluding to a bus stuck somewhere. "Silver's lesser sister" refers to grey, and "public chariot" is clearly some sort of transportation. An American busliner is called Greyhound.

[ he got a laugh out of it. well, a chuckle. his brow furrows and he looks at the riddle again. ]

How do you even know that?

[The only response at first is a shrug. But Sherlock can't leave this sort of thing at that.]

I have been to America, you know. Suffice it to say they dislike more about me than throwing one of their CIA agents out a window.

[Sherlock looks up from his NV for a moment and gives a somewhat devious smirk.]

Okay then, that's good to know. If I ever go on holiday there, I'll make sure to pretend I don't know you.

[ because there are some things john really doesn't want to know. especially when he smiles like that. ]

Hm. I don't think guilt by association would carry in this case. Just don't go to Rhode Island.
