[Mary looks... well, alive, which is a bonus, but also frazzled and exhausted, with pale skin, dark circles under her eyes, lips chapped, hair falling out of her ponytail.

But more than that, she looks haunted.]

I'm back. I'm alive. [Her lips press together in a thin line. She bows her head and talks to her knees.] No thanks to those monsters.

I don't know if anyone else made it out... there were no- [sniffing hard to avoid tearing up.] -shelters. Nothing Darkness proofed. [Head still bowed tightly.] I don't know if any of those people I fought with made it out alive, but if they didn't, I'm going to tell you all right now.

[She finally looks up, eyes welling now with tears she refuses to cry.]

They hunted us. They bound us, put collars on us, they put us in cages. They chased us and hunted us down like we were fucking dogs and we couldn't-

[she claps a hand over her mouth, breathing hard to rein in her emotions. When she opens her eyes again, there's something chilling and deadened in her eyes.]

When I died at home- the first time, before I came here... it was a demon. A demon pinned me to the ceiling and burned me alive in my baby's nursery, and I didn't feel as violated as I did those two days. In that cage. [She shakes her head intently, looking away.] Those monsters kidnapped children. They wanted to see every one of us die like dumb fucking animals.

I wonder what would happen if I prayed for them. [There's a weird look in her eyes. Something you wouldn't leave your children alone with.] It's the Christian thing to do.

Would I get their souls into Heaven, or their heads on a plate?

[With a last ugly look at the NV, she turns the ~~public~~ feed off.]

Did you hear my prayer? [The one she whispered as she lay dying.] Please, tell me none of you- tell me you didn't go there. Please.

[Not really his intention, but he is really worried about it, okay? When she mentions Michael he gives a nod. He even understands which Michael she's talking about, really.]

[And it's good, so he nods, actually looking a bit relieved] Just... be safe. Make them make you safe.

If i get my say, he wont be doing this again for a long time.

[Yessss coffee. The tea she bought from him is clearly visible in the open cabinet, but she needs serious caffeination.]

[Time to gulp some of that coffee down. It's steaming hot, but she doesn't seem to notice- or care, that is.]

Mmhmm, and who got kidnapped here...? My advice has kept me out of trouble.

Definitely! She really deserves it. Gabriel, too. I'm so happy for them both.

Politics are difficult.

Those who love us will often say such things. Imagine your position reversed with a cherished one. It is natural to want to protect that which is precious.

I know. I know!

But they're managing me like a child again. Just because I died at home-

[A roll of paper towels catches on fire behind her.]

[Jake comes on, looking a little worse for the wear - and in the hospital, at that. But, his wounds seem to be healing up pretty nicely, even if his chest is still mostly covered in bandages.]

We all made it out. All the rest of us are alive, at least, last I checked. And I reckon that's partly yer doin', ma'am.

[He gives a weak smile. He's still hurting, but, he should be getting out tomorrow, if all goes well.]

Me, Gohan, Mercy--and us, of course. I'm afraid that's all I know.

And I'm not terribly worried about being uppity, I just-- We mustn't let this color our perception of every native in the Port. We have to try to coexist with them, right?

[As much as he'd love to find every one of those hunters and sing them a nice tune.]

[It was an expression of concern! He's alive enough to be a dick. It's a good thing. Mostly.]

[Iroh pauses for a moment and looks at the fire]

[It might sound a little sage like, but if you follow his eyes, you'll notice it, Mary]

God, I'm glad. If nothing else.

[Technically, she had only warned Gabriel and Michael. Lucifer is far, far too ~~paranoid~~ cynical to believe he would have been included in that prayer if she'd been able to finish it.]

And I'm trying to find Spencer and keep him from doing it again.

For the fourth time, you mean, right?

They have collars. They'll cage you and keep you from using your powers.

We're the underdogs. We need every resource we have.

Praying might be the Christina thing to do, but I prefer in dealing through less higher powers. And I can assure you, we will be doing whatever we can to see these people receive the full penalty for their actions.

I understand. That's why I plan on helping to mobilize the NPP to deal with this. I'll do everything in my power to stop these people.

I'm just advising against any sort of hostility--revenge. That absolutely cannot happen, not if we hope to survive here.

I'm not going to find him so I can shake my finger in his face. You can kill someone without mojo.

[She sort of looks at him for a second, but then the smoke hits her nostrils right as she starts turning around, prompting a startled-]

JESUS CHRIST!

[She jumps, clenches her hands reflexively, and... the fire dies down. It doesn't go out, but suddenly the towels are only smoldering. After a couple seconds of gaping, she shoves the paper towels into the sink and drenches them.

And... just. Turns around. Cheeks red.]

Uh. Sorry about that. That was stupid. Um.

[Right. What the hell were they talking about again.]

[...]

Are you doing that for me?

We aren't surviving.

What do you think?

[Lucifer has lots of reasons for what he does. Of course, this does have to do with keeping Michael safe, too. But ultimately Lucifer wouldn't be involved if not for Mary.]

Well.]

That means a lot.

[Knowing he'd get involved at all, whatever his other reasons are. And she knows his motives are varied- but still, it means something. It's surprising, really. After all this time, she still wasn't sure if she actually meant anything, or if he only came girl-shaped to make her more fun to be around, not to make her more comfortable.

Hell, maybe it's both. But in a place like this, she'll count her friends where she can, even if she can't trust them.]
