Butterfly chasing, anyone? Action => various NV functions, probably voice.
[Starting midday on Thursday, all over the island, people will start to see gleaming, iridescent butterflies like the one in the icon. Their wings reflect light, scattering little rainbows as they fly. They don't swarm, nor are they attracted to flowers or bright colors, or otherwise behave like natural butterflies. In fact, anyone who pays attention will realize they seem to be exploring and canvassing the city in an organized pattern as House methodically searches for Mary. Despite being directed by the House's intelligence, they can be caught easily enough with most powers or good old-fashioned butterfly nets, and close examination will reveal them to be synthetic: sleek, lightweight little machines, with laser-thin photoreceptive carbon wings and little legs for clinging to perches. At this point, the butterfly is likely to snap a picture of their face, which House will run against network posts until it has a number, and will call to politely ask for the butterfly's release.]
[OOC: Feel free to write out butterfly-chasing action in either prose or comment spam, whatever you like. Doubling up/threadjacking/multiple muses chasing one butterfly are cool too. Equally open to kids or young at heart who want some harmless fun, or to schemey types who want to examine/steal House's tech, or anyone who just wants an IC excuse to talk to the House. If there might be any problem with House figuring out the NV of the captor to make contact, let me know.]

Don't worry. It is replaceable.

Beggin' ya pardon. Mimsy, it ain't a treat, stop it.

Could you keep it just there, for a few minutes? I am conducting a search, and I am redirecting other fliers to take up that section of the grid, but I would prefer not to allow even a brief blind spot.
no subject
Oh, yer the talkin' House ain't ya? Mimsy!
[DADDY BRIGHT SHINY THING! POUT!
Kevin just tucks the butterfly onto his shoulder.]
There anythin' I c'n help with?
no subject
Nothing else at present.
[The butterfly crawls slowly along Kevin's shoulder, maneuvering despite it's unbalanced form, eventually leaning to press one thin, smooth wing against Kevin's bare cheek. And of course, because it's totally inorganic, it remains no more damaged than it was a moment before.]

It's right nice t'meet ya. Dr. Xavier tol' me about ya. If'n there's anythin' ya need, jus' ask. I ain't doin' nothin' today.
[Except throwing the ball for Mimsy.]

Sorry 'bout that.

Please, could you keep it in a place where it will receive plenty of sunlight? It is solar powered. Dust it, since it cannot beat it's wings quite right, and give it a few drops of water a day. It will be able to repair itself.

[He glanced at the butterfly.]
If'n ya don't mind m'askin', when ya ain't busy, c'n ya show me how ya make 'em?

Not in person - the manufacturing facilities do not have space to admit human-sized observers. I should be able to generate a holographic facsimile of the process with little trouble, but much of it occurs at the nanoscopic level, and is rather advanced in comparison to all the technology available in this time. I would be happy to explain to the best of my ability, however.

[Not a lie, just not the whole truth.]

[His artist brain is working.]
Would ya mind me drawin' it a couple o' times while it's recuperatin'? Or makin' a mock up in metal?

[His ears are bright red.]
I dunno 'bout showin' anyone... But, I c'n bring it over when it's finished, if'n ya'd like?

The butterfly's wings are photographic. I see what they see.
You don't have to be embarrassed. The iterations of creation can be just as lovely as the final piece.
no subject
I dunno 'bout that, but... I jus' don't show folks what I do. Saves hassles.
no subject
I'm not folks. I'm just the House.
no subject
Well, where I'm from, that'd still make ya folks.
