So, I guess a guy can't even take a stroll these days. You go out and something's gonna try to get ya if you pass through the shadow of a building.

[There is a slight lilt to his words, as if he can't quite keep the thrill of the hunt from his voice.]

If ya have to go out? Do it at noon. Or you're gonna see shit like this.

[The NV switches over to video and shows Dante's feet for a moment before he gets it pointing in the right direction: down the street. It's late afternoon and the shadows look wrong, as if they've slithered, rather than fallen, across the landscape. Something moves in the nearest shadow, standing upright. It's a gaunt, human shape until it twists its head, revealing a long, beak-like appendage. It says "shitlikethis!" then leaps towards the camera. The camera tilts as Dante backpedals and the creature emits a keening sound like a car blaring its horn then collapses to the ground as its body is riddled with holes under what seems like machine gun fire. This lasts for only a moment before it vaporizes in the sunlight.]

Oops. Looks like I made a friend. Ugly sunnavabitch too.

[He lifts the NV again and looks at it with a half grin.]

Wish I could tell ya why this is happening. But I can't. Media's been pretty tight-lipped about it, too. Tch...what a pain. I guess the news is useless no matter what world you're in.

[There's a growl from off camera and he smiles again.]

Well....looks like there's a party going on. And I'm the guest of honor.

[He turns off the feed]

[He snorts and looks off to the side as he continues to walk down the streets, keeping to the pools of daylight. His expression is not one of anger, though.]

Can't do much about the Core. Guess that means I'll just havta work off the frustration!

[The NV swings as he turns towards something in a nearby shadow. There's another hail of gunfire then he resumes walking.]

[She'd tell him to watch where he's shooting, but she's seen him in action before and thus isn't too worried.] It's possible that no one really knows just yet, but I can't say I'm holding my breath if they do.
