thirty sixth dance | video;
[Today, the NV turns on as the girl on the screen is walking down the produce aisle of a grocery store, though she's not necessarily looking to buy anything.]
It's been a while since I was here! I don't usually go shopping or anything like that, but I thought it would be good if I tried to get a job again since it's the summer. I don't want to just sit around, after all!
[She smiles, before something to the side catches her eye - there's a fly sitting on an apple. Alarmed, she reaches for the piece of fruit, pulling it out of the middle of the pile where it had been resting. Of course, this sends the apple just above it falling down, and when she reaches over with her other hand to grab it, she slips. The hand that had been going for the falling apple instead hits the pile as she tries to save herself from falling, but all this really accomplishes is sending a good amount of the apples onto the ground.]
Oh, oh, jeez, I didn't mean to—
[From behind, there's a gasp from an onlooker, and she casts a worried glance behind her, starting to run before promptly tripping over a fallen apple. Muffled laughter can be heard before she picks herself up, sprinting down the aisle before she thinks to turn the NV off.]

Re: voice
I think it's more important that the kids have fun. That's what you do at camp, anyway.
...man, I think I need to get another 2nd job soon. The stadium just isn't giving me enough hours, but I don't want to go back to Sam's.
voice
Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you, Joe, that's really sweet of you to say.
I guess it depends whether they'll even let any of us near kids any time soon. It's sad... I hope they find that girl soon.
What happened at Sam's?
voice
I hope so too. I've been keeping an eye out for her.
Nothing, I just...quit, and I don't think Sam wants me back.
voice
I'm glad. Hopefully we can prove it wasn't us soon!
Why wouldn't he?

Re: voice
I used to look up to Sam a lot. Before he became a pushover, holding me back.

Re: voice

Maybe he's just trying to make sure you don't get hurt.

Re: voice
Merlotte's is still in hot water with AGI breathing down its neck anyway. I don't need to be involved with that.
voice
I definitely wouldn't want you to get mixed up in anything like that, though!

This is who I want to be.
voice
I meant with him. I mean, if he left tomorrow, would you wish you had done anything differently?
voice
If Sam left tomorrow I'd be sad, but at least I wouldn't feel guilty because some AGI agent shot him in the back while he was running the register and I couldn't help because he told me to keep my head down and out of it.
... I mean he gave me a great start. But I've got other things to do. I just don't know what those things are yet.
voice
Yeah, I think that makes sense. Do you have any ideas of what you might want?
Re: voice
[Oh. Wait. It's...too late to take back words like that.]
Pickles is gone now, so I've sort of lost my hot tip on being sound man for bands. I need to get in with the managers at Twins, to see if they'll let me do things there.
I got a couple of gigs on my own, graduation parties and stuff, birthdays, a couple of weddings- (Jinx hasn't asked me to do hers yet.) But it's hard to count on that as a steady second job.
voice
Have you ever thought about anything other than music?
Re: voice
I'd be in security, if anybody'd take me seriously enough to let me.
Or I could just use the machine at our house to make bigger batches and sell ice cream, I guess. It's summer.
