Hiccup. For real. ([personal profile] summing_it_up) wrote in [community profile] sirenspull2012-06-09 01:15 am

[Video: 005] Morning:

[The Great Outdoors! Well, whatever was left untouched within the city's perimeters. Still, it works. Beautiful. Just beautiful.

As the rock NV sits somewhere off to the side, Hiccup is seen in view with Toothless. He leans over the dragon, checking the saddle and the tethers attached to it and the prosthetic tail fin, tugging it a few times to make sure it's secure.
]

Check. Check. Everything looks good! [He claps his hands together, stepping back as he does so. And after he takes a moment to approve of how well everything has held together, the boy easily swings a leg over one side, patting the scaly black flank.] Okay, buddy. I think we're ready to go–

[Go indeed- "go" is the magic word as Toothless eagerly bounds forward, wings stretching out from either side as the black dragon rushes towards the ledge of a cliff. Oh. Boy.]

–waitWAITWAITTOOTHLESS NO

[They plunge.

A very high-pitched scream is heard, fading into the background.
]

[ SOME TIME LATER: ]

[The scene stays the same, much like one of those computer screensavers used for peaceful default ambiance settings. But it isn't long before it's disturbed again, a miffed black dragon and his bedraggled boy entering in from the left side of the screen.]

I said I was sorry!

[Toothless glares flatly at Hiccup as he snorts. He shakes off the excess leaves and twigs before tromping off.

Hiccup sighs, letting his hands drop to his sides as he returns the look, watching the dragon go.
]

We can try again– oh. Yeah! Okay, fine. Iii see how it is. [Pause. He suddenly looks offended.] Oh, you did not– !

[Excuse him as he chases after the dragon for a bit.]

If it's all the same to you, I'd rather not be any part of a dragon's flight unless I have to be. It's an awful long way to fall if they get bored of you halfway or forget you're there or something.

But you seem nice enough, I suppose. For a talking dragon that doesn't seem like he'd really try eating me if we were talking face to face. I hope. I'm Anders.

A friend never forgets.

I assure you, eating people is not something me or any metallic dragon will do.

I wish that applied to people sometimes.

[Because it clearly doesn't, and Anders is fairly certain it's not about to start applying to animals either, not matter how much some might say otherwise.]

So if the dragon looks like you or is made of metal or something, I'm probably safe? Well that sounds promising, though I'll probably be careful all the same. Maybe not all of them got that message.

[ Excuse you Aurican and Toothless aren't animals. :| ]

Metallic dragons aren't made out of metal, we are named as such to the color of our scales. But yes, we don't eat people - the worse I ever heard of a metallic dragon ever doing anything to people is stealing treasure. Coppers are particularly bad about that.

Of course, there's a possibility that in another world there are metallic dragons that will do great evils. Personally I find the idea to be too blasphemous, but it is always a possibility.

[Well Aurican can speak so that's a good point, but Toothless seems more like a Mabari from what he can see. Smart, but not exactly up there with people.]

I never really paid attention to the colours of the ones trying to eat me in the past. I'm always more concerned where the dangerous bits are instead of what colour they are.

In my world, paying attention to a dragon's scales is a matter of life and death. If you noticed a dragon with a brassy sheen to his scales, you are most likely to be forced to be part of his conversations for a very long time, or you might find yourself robbed by a copper. However, a dragon with red scales will more than likely torture you for just the entertainment value. Chromatic dragons, the ones with black, green, white, blue, or red scales are those to be avoid at all cost. They don't have the merciful tendencies as metallic dragons do.

Usually it's generally a safe idea to just avoid all dragons. Then you don't have to worry about what they might or might not do to you.

...but just to be on the safe side, are there any other dragons here? Like those red ones you mentioned? I might try and stay out of their way even more than I do already if there are any here.

Indeed.

[ Aurican can't argue with that. Smelt and Blayze were annoying to their kin, they are probably overwhelming to lesser beings not used to them. ]

I am the only one from my world. I believe Toothless and I are the only dragons in residence.

[ Aurican won't be counting Hitsugaya's familiar spirit as a true dragon, as he is not flesh and bone. ]

Only two dragons and one of them's already said he won't eat me? Things are already starting to look up then! Well, as up as they can look with monsters and things in the dark waiting to eat us all. But I suppose that's nothing new compared to what I'm used to.

Oh I'm sure you know how it is, bandits and demons and the occasional blood mage. And since I'm a Grey Warden as well, we spend a lot of time going into the Deep Roads to fight darkspawn and all kinds of nasty creepy things when there's miles and miles of rock overhead...

Just the thought of that part gives me the shivers.

So the Darkness is something you are somewhat familiar with, then?
electricitytrick: (it was like that when I got here)

[personal profile] electricitytrick 2012-06-26 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. It's different from some of the things we faced in the Deep Roads. The darkspawn don't exactly go away in the daylight, as nice as that might be sometimes.
