[When the feed flickers on Dean's figuring out how to angle it right over his shoulders so it's not too close or too far from him when he starts talking. The whole video thing's still new to him, and he's not sure how to turn it off half the time when he's talking to someone on it.

For a split second you get the image of a folded up assless hospital gown, Mary's apartment and the subtle sigils on the wall, then it's on him.

His hair is still wet from a shower and he's in a black t-shirt and jeans, the amulet looks like nothing but a small flicker of gold before he's got the receiver positioned upright.]

For those of you just joinin' us death's not permanent here. [He should've figured that out when it came to his dad but he just figured that it'd take a lot more than a bullet to the brain to kill him. He had to go out swinging.

Dean just looks tired. He's in nowhere near the same amount of pain as he was in before croaking but he's still riding some out. Not as pale but irritated and not doing a very good job of hiding it. He shrugs.] Doesn't mean you should go Berserker but I thought some of you could use the intel.

[Dean's about to turn off the feed when it hits him.] Anyone know what day of the week it is?

[TFW filter. Including all friends. None of the enemies. Screw you Meg, Crowley, Ruby, Zachy, and the rest.]

I feel like I got hit by a freight train and then Sam got some hoodoo priest to lay some mojo on me.

[Forget that both have sort of happened. He's not gonna go into how literal that metaphor is.]

Anyway, not sure how long I've been gone but at least I'm not some creepy night monster.

[Dean didn't really 'date' at all. He had one night stands or one week stands. The last chick he dated at all was Cassie and that didn't go over well.]

Okay. Halfway, I'll give you details but they're not going to get graphic because not even my best friend Xander gets graphic graphic details.

[She gives a brief giggle as she climbs out of the cab.]

[Dean climbs out right after her still talking.]

You can skirt around the racy stuff but I want the big picture.

[He hands some folded bills to the cabby and escorts Willow inside.]

You pick the table. Might be better for service if we stay off the bar.

[He knew he was a distraction to Ellen but that wasn't it. He didn't want her poking her nose in the conversation either. He could do without the scolding.]

Back corner. And I'm going for blurry water colour. And I'll take a beer. Whichever they kinda taste samey to me.

[She picks a table in the corner and smiles to herself, shaking her head. Okay, not too much details.]

Blurry water color? C'mon. How 'bout oil painting?

[Dean doesn't give her time to answer. Instead he heads off and tells the bar keep what they're having. He comes back with two beers and nods in the direction of where he got them that they'd probably do more than one round.

He sits on the opposite side of the table and folds his arms across, holding his beer in one fist.]

Okay, spill.

Spill what? Give me somewhere to start.

[She can't believe she's doing this. But eh. Why not?]

Girlfriend one or two?

We can start with one and work our way t'two. Unless you had 'em both at the same time or somethin'.

[That's just him being hopeful. He rolls his beer between his palms instead of drinking it.]

That'd be kinda hard cause Tara died before Kennedy was in the picture.

[She smiled teasingly.]

Tara was the one that... um. Turned me? [Okay, she had to giggle at that.] She was the love of my life. My height. Doe eyed, beautiful from head to toe with a voluptuous body.

[Yeah, she did just get lost in a daydream.]

And the sweetest person you'd ever meet.

She sounds pretty hot.

[Dean's trying to picture the two of them together with that short explanation and it takes a life of its own in his mind.]

Turned you? I thought this was somethin' you had t'be born with. At least that's the crap that gets spewed at me every time I crack an inappropriate joke.

[He settles down after a few more pulls from his beer.] You said she died. That's tough. I'm sorry.

I made a joke. She was the first woman that made me realise that girls were the ones that I wanted.

[She clarified with a smaller smile.]

Yeah she was killed, By a man who was trying to Kill Buffy. [And it was Obvious it still hurt her. Even summoning the memory of Warren made her sick to her stomach.]

I... Well, to say I handled it badly would be like saying the sun is a little warm.

[He holds out his hand in a gesture of 'What? You didn't catch that?' borderline sarcasm and mock irritation.]

That blows.

[He's quiet for a while, tilting his beer back to stare down the long neck into the pit of amber liquid.]

Yeah, that's why I never really settled down. This gig... nothing's a sure thing. You could die tomorrow or someone else could. Y'just gotta live while you can and forget about committing to anything but survival.

[When he looks back up he's smiling under raised brows. He takes another pull and shrugs off the seriousness.]

You've got more experience than me in the girlfriend department, that's good. Maybe later you can show me how to really treat a lady.

I might do if you ask nicely.

[She smiles, Though the feeling that it might be the tiniest bit hollow is probably something you'll notice.]

I'd actually argue the other way. You never know when you're going to die, so you have to love as much as you can.

[She takes a drink from the beer before putting it on the table.]

Not to be part of the cliché brigade? But if you're gonna save the world constantly? What's the point if there's no-one to share it with.

[Dean hides his smile pretty well with the mouth of his beer. His other arm is folded on the table.]

Never heard it be put like that.

[Maybe it was just easier for them, their world. Or easier for lesbians.]

You're a pretty smart chick.

[He'll butter her up because it's true. What she said, even though he'd never do it, was pretty brave and selfless.

He'd had a hell of a time keeping people in the loop. The gig was harsh and it wasn't prejudice. It'd take the people you love right along with the people you hate.]

I tested genius level at high school. Then living on top of a portal to hell really taught you stuff about the world. Like: If it's Tuesday and there is not an apocalypse, you're missing something.

[She chuckles a little and takes another mouthful of beer before smiling down into the bottle.]

Sorry. Flashback.

Wait- you lived on top of a portal to tell?

[Forget the rest of it. They can get to that later. Dean's more interested in this. The only gate to hell he knew about was the one Jake opened and he and Sam had to close.]

How's that work?

Well, there were two dormant portals to hell in the world that we knew of. One was in Sunnydale California and the other was in Cleveland somewhere. I can't remember where.

[She draws a little invisible circle on the table.]

These portals were called Hellmouths. And they're not good news. The energy from them draws demons to hunt. But there's a problem, Demons were drawn but people weren't. Until that is Mayor Wilkins decided that it was time to build a town on top of this centre of mystical convergence so that demons had a pretty much all you can eat buffet.

[She puts a napkin holder ontop of the circle she drew, even though you couldn't see it.]

So, Sunnydale, being the demons favourite party town became a centre for the war versus demons. So along comes Buffy, the Slayer. One girl in all the world imbued with the power to fight the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness blah blah blah, who just so happened to become my best friend in highschool. Really long and detailed story short? We saved the world and decommissioned the Sunnydale hellmouth, and completely destroyed the town.

[And then she put the napkin holder back where it should be.]

People say Highschool is the hardest time in your life. Well? When demons and vampires are part of your daily life? It is.

Fangs, hell spawn, and your very own portal downstairs. [He laughs despite not totally believing in her ass backwards reality. It was too much like some crazy spin off of his.] Your high school career was a lot more exciting than mine.

[Even if he was hunting a lot of the time, especially on the weekends. His dad always made sure he at least stepped foot in the school. He was always quick to ditch. That was around the time he got the impala a whole new gateway to freedom.]

I know better than t'ask a lady her age but you're not still enrolled, right?

[Dean's not so subtle way of asking if she's legal. If she was't then this'd get pretty awkward quick.]

Yes!

[She lets that sit for a beat.]

Oh, still enrolled. Nope. I was enrolled in UC Sunnydale. So you're off the hook for now.

[She grins playfully.]

And Highschool was exciting as it was dangerous. Mantis Lady, being attacked by two really angry violent spirits, my werewolf boyfriend escaping, One of the students pulling a Mr Hyde and killing his girlfriend. Being raided by vampires on parents night... Yeah. My high school career was fun.

So this place ripped you right outta college. From what I can tell those're the best years of your life.

[Dean's pretty relieved that she's not some high school sophomore. He's been lewd before but he was upping the ante here and he didn't need any fall out.]

Man, I thought how I grew up was bad. Where you're from just sounds... wacky.

No. I had to ditch college cause of the fact that it's now in a giant crater that used to be Sunnydale.

[She chuckles.]

It's not all bad. I mean, I met Oz and Tara and Buffy. [She drains the last part of her bottle of beer and puts it back on the table gently.] But then there's the opposite end of the scale. There were times when it really sucked.

Ever think about movin' somewhere that wasn't a demon minefield?

[He was curious. He didn't know if she was just devoted to Sunnydale or if it was one of those small town places no one could ever escape, just riddled with the pond scum of the underworld.]

At least you focus on the good memories. There's a lot of us that have been through enough of the bad that it's all we see anymore.

Knowing what was going on? The end of the world looming constantly? I couldn't leave.

[She smiled at Dean. She reckons he's the kind that couldn't just ignore it either.]

Well, I try too. Except I kinda have a constant reminder of the worst part of my life.

[And that is where she gestures to the bartender for another.]

Could've been easier to bail but then there'd be no one there to hold down the fort or clean up the mess.

[He cracks a grin. She's exactly the kind of person he could work with. He'd have to introduce her to Cas and Sam when he got a chance.

The empty sound of her long neck hitting the table has Dean grabbing both bottles from the surface and passing it off on the nearest tray for pick up. Dean's done with his too so he holds up two fingers for the bar keep so he can get another round along with her.]

I know that feeling. Just gotta keep facing forward, the past is behind you for a reason. It's not always pretty but dwelling on it only keeps you from goin' anywhere.

[He's really the last person who should be saying anything like that but judging by the head cold she's sporting and the general attitude he figures he should help her take a load off.]

... You know. This has to be a regular thing. Cause you make me not feel horrible.

[She shakes her head with a smile.]

The past is the past. For good reason. But it has to be a guide so we don't make the same mistakes again. Like learning that revenge is a stupid thing to try because it rarely works and in my experience never makes you feel better.

[It was chirpy, like she hadn't nearly gotten killed the first time or ended the world the second time.]

I might be able to swing that.

[Dean raises his beer to hers and clinks the glass together.]

As long as you promise t'keep dishin' out the life lessons and girl on girl scenarios.
