[ Lying across a hardwood floor is a robotic arm. It's sleek and shiny and looks well designed. Unfortunately for all its fancy looking gadgetry it's lying there like a dead fish. A socked foot pokes into the view of the camera from the bottom of the screen and nudges the arm. Once.... Twice...

And oh! Look at that, the fingers on the arm are twitching in strange, jerky motions. ]

Aha! Got it working. [ A scoffing sound. ] That wasn't that hard at all.

[ And now in those same weirdly jerky motions the arm lurches towards the foot and grabs onto the ankle attached. The camera pans down to watch its movements ]

Hey!

[ And starts climbing it's way up the calf. ]

Oh my god...

[ And gets up to the shorts, and seems to be moving on up. ]

HOLY SHIT! STOP THAT!!!

[ Well... it does only to start sparking like crazy. There's a yelp and arm is flung off the lap and goes flying into a wall before falling to the ground with a loud clatter. ]

.... Well so much for getting that to work right!

It's not my metal arm. My roommate is the one that left it lying around like that.

Well sure, he left it out here. And what? Heck no! If you kill it, Dirk will kill me. Though to be honest with you, I think I might have beaten you to doing in the arm myself.

[ looking slightly disappointed that she won't get to cut a robot arm. ] Well, it was the one leaping up your gam! He can't really get mad at you for that! Self-defense, amigo!

A reasonable enough excuse and all, but considering how parts are not quite as easy to come by here as back home he might have a thing or two to say about the whole mess.

What's he makin' that thing for, anyway?

God knows. He makes these sort of things all the time though. I guess as a hobby. He's a smart guy, after all, he needs something to keep himself occupied.

As a hobby? I bet he could make a few pennies off of those things! I thought making money was what the smart guys did.

Well... without giving away too many of the man's secrets I will say that making money was probably not high on his list of priorities. ... Do you really think he could sell these things here though?

Why not, amigo? Inventors gotta get their ideas off the ground somehow! It looks like it could attack something, right? Or at least after you mess around with it, heh.

It might be better once it has the rest of it's body attached. I can promise you it will have no problem attacking others after that.

Ooh, there's more of it? That makes a lot more sense than just an arm, you know! Although there's plenty of times when I wished I had another arm...

[ then she could have three katanas, and life would be awesome. ]

What would you do with another arm?

But I'd have to find more katanas...

[ Oh but they're stuck on an island, they might not be able to get them... ]

You could always mail order some in.

Of course, amigo! That's not the kind of thing people stop making. I'd just have to find a good one. That might be hard, but I'm sure there'd be more friendly ones around waiting for me!

I'm sure you're right about that. Either way, I think we're a ways away from four armed people still.
