[Long time no see, Siren's Port. Gilbert has been doing his best to keep off of the NV for the last few months for a multitude of different reasons, but today he has something to talk about.

Or rather, he has something to complain about.

The video turns on while the NV is still pointed at the ground, some section of the garden out in front of the Phantomhive estate, but it snaps up fairly quickly to reveal a very rain-soaked Gilbert Nightray. It's been raining a lot lately, so the sight in and of itself isn't horribly odd, but what is odd is that he looks furious about it.]

Who's doing this?! Whoever it is - cut it out already! This 'prank' is going too far!

[The camera then shifts upwards until it's pointed up over his head. A few raindrops fall onto the NV, obscuring the sight a little, but viewers will definitely see a small, gray raincloud perched over his head. Just. Hovering there. Raining on him. He takes a step to the side and it follows him faithfully.

Yes, the broodiest resident of Siren's Port now comes equipped with his own personal raincloud for the day thanks to one of his regular customers at the bakery. Though honestly, in a city full of pranksters, it's really very odd that Gilbert hasn't been pranked this badly before.]

It won't go away! It keeps following me inside! It ruined part of the carpet and I can't even clean it up! I can't smoke like this either, and...

[The camera moves back to his pissed expression.]

IT'S NOT FUNNY DAMN IT SO STOP!

[And with that he slams the NV shut. April Fools, indeed.]

[ooc - Action for Phancyhive people if they want to venture out to Gilbert's little Brooding Spot in the garden. Also I'm off for work so tags will come later today.]

[Even though she's smiling at him, he's still mostly-pouty as he takes it and opens it over his head. For a second, at least, it works. The cloud stays put and he's blessedly dry.

At least he's gotten used to the bird thing by now.]

I don't. And no one is owning up to it either...

Well, when did it start?

[She holds her arm up next to her head, then lowers it as the bird hops onto her wrist. Idly, she scratches at it's head with a finger.]

Right after I walked out the door.

[He shifts the umbrella from hand to hand as he removes his damp jacket and drapes it over his arm.]

The door to the house?

[Scratchscratch. It coos softly.]

Mmhm. It's been raining so much lately I didn't notice at first.

Well, nobody in the house would have done something like that! I don't think anyone could have, either.

I can't think of anyone who would want to do it.

[Wringing out the sleeves of his coat now.]

Troublesome...

Do you know anyone else who might have done it?

[The bird and her tilt their heads in tandem.]

[C-cute.]

[AND THEN HIS EXPRESSION TURNS MURDEROUS.]

I'll bet Break arranged it somehow...!

[WE DON'T ANSWER TO HIM HERE. Except when he's really loud and threatens with cats.]

What kind of stuff did you do?

[And her smile grows a fraction - hearing about other worlds is always exciting!]

['I killed people for a living' probably isn't the right thing to say here, huh?]

We...protected a lot of people. That was our role in Pandora - to protect people from Chains.

[Good call.]

That sounds really amazing.

So Chains are pretty dangerous?

They can be.

[He takes a step away from her, just to make sure that she doesn't get rained on too.]

In the hands of an illegal contractor, at least.

What's the difference between an illegal one and a legal one?

[He stops fidgeting with his jacket and takes the umbrella handle with both hands as he turns his attention back to the ground.]

Do you remember when I was injured a few weeks ago? I formed a legal contract with Raven - a mutual agreement. I have control over his power because he allows it. Illegal contractors have no control over their Chain...it controls them like puppets.

[Like puppets... It's a few moments before she speaks.]

Why would anybody choose to do that?

[This never gets any easier to explain, especially to someone like Ahiru.]

Because the Chain can sense when someone is weak. They promise something in return for the contract - the ability to change the past.

To change the past? Can they really do something like that?

[Yes.]

No. It's only a trick to get the person to agree to a contract.

But they have to hold up their end of it, right? They can't just lie about something like that!

[He winces, tries to pass it off as him simply adjusting the umbrella. All this talk of contracts after everything that she'd told him - it couldn't be good for her to listen to.]

It benefits them more to lie. [A small sigh.]

You should go back inside where it's warm. I'll be fine here until this stops...

And they can only get out of it if the Chain dies?

But I want to hear this! I have a coat, so...

[He hesitates.]

Sometimes if the contract is still new, the Chain can be killed and the contract can be severed.
