[Accidental Video] Forward Dated to 7 a.m.

[ When Hattie's NV turned on, it's to the sight of a khao manee's nose sniffing at the screen with mild curiosity. It stopped to the sound of a door opening, then the cat, apparently alarmed, darted off to leap onto the bed. The focus re-adjusted to show Ella walking into the room.

She walked over to where Hattie was fast asleep in the bed, and gave her a gentle shake. The cat hissed from where he was curled up. ]

Quiet, Lucifurr. Hattie? Time to get up, milady.

[ Another shake, and she was rewarded with a smack in the nose as Hattie rolled over. ]

Ow.

[ Ella grumbled, and considered for a moment. Okay. She brushed her hands against her dress and... proceeded to sing and dance through the room. ]

o/~ Wake up, Wake up, it's time to rise and shine, get out of bed you sleepyhead, come come it's time to dine.
Make haste, make haste, the sunshine is so bright, how can you miss this sigh-? ~/o

[ She'd continue, but at that point Hattie had roused enough to hit Ella with a pillow to shut her up. Ella tossed the pillow back on the bed, finding her stepsister curling up to sleep again. Lucifurr seemed to like it at least. Encore! ]

Okay - I didn't want to have to do this; I mean I really didn't but you leave me no choice. [ She trotted out of the room. Roughly three minutes later she returned with her arms full of pots and pans. Now seemed like a good moment for a witty one-liner: ]

I have a feeling things are going to.. Pan out. [ Welp, she tried. She hucked the dishware into the air, covered her ears and let the chips fall where they may, so to speak. ]

[Hattie, of course, let out an ear-piercing shriek! Both she and her startled cat went flying to the side and out of the bed when she kicked her legs in the air, causing not only a heavy thud when she hit the floor afterward, but the furniture the NV was on toppled as well, the device knocked offline shortly after.]

[He catches this before going to bed; he's trying to keep to his regular schedule as much as possible, even though he's taken time off work due to his memory issues. He's actually amused, but it doesn't show. And of course he's only addressing Ella. Why would he want to talk to Hattie?] Getting into the spirit of the strange holiday?

[ While Hattie is off freaking out as per usual, Ella addresses the NV while tidying up the room with a laugh. ]

Not at all - she asked me to wake her in the morning. She just didn't say how. [ Oh that innocent look. SO innocent! Okay maybe a little getting into the spirit. ]

[Yeah, he knows that innocent look. Matsumoto does that one. Must be why he doesn't buy it. Not that he's going to object to trolling Hattie.] Then I suppose it's her own fault for being so non-specific.

[ Ella stifles a chuckle. ]

Too true. I was afraid I would have to break out the buckets of water if the pots and pans didn't work. [ She's collecting them though, having made that mess and all. ]

[This is one of those moments that makes Sheila ever-so-happy to be friends with these two.]

Hast thou safely returned to the wakened realm, Hattie?

...And Ella, ye grow more creative with each passing day!

[ Ella is just muffling her giggles as best she can, making sure the room is in order. ]

I do try - it's rather tiresome to wake someone up the same way - when the usual ways just don't work.

[Sheila muffles a chuckle of her own.]

Perhaps ye might teach Hattie the value of an alarm clock?

That's an idea... I'll have to see about getting one from the store. I don't suppose you could suggest some places?

La, 'twould be good for her to learn of discipline. Though she is not entirely spoilt, I suppose.

I believe there art a store in the mall that sells such timepieces! Along with other sticks of furniture.

[Hattie struggls a bit within her cocoon of blanket madness, voice muffled. Eventually she gets free and snaps:]

Sheila, don't encourage her!!

I should not dream of it, Hattie!

[Troool tooooneeee]

Hmph!!

[She frowns, not that it can be seen. You just wait, Sheila, when Hattie wakes up you are so getting scolded!]

Oh Hattie! I mean thee no offense!

[She does make a solid effort to squash all giggles trying to escape her lips.]

[Hattie's too embarrassed to switch to video!]

Well I -am- offended! [She huffs, though there's a -hint- of playfulness behind it. Just a hint!] You'll have to make it up to me by buying me tea, I think we can both agree to that?

[She muffles her giggles into her sleeve.]

Aye, Hattie! Perhaps they shall hath coffee that might please thy tongue.

[Wanda can't help herself from laughing. The scene seems harmless enough, more like siblings play-fighting than anything else. It was definitely something she would have done to her own sibling once upon a time.]

Somebody's stuck with a cranky sleepyhead. I know how that goes.

[She'd had to deal with a certain silver-haired speedster who only wanted to get up on his schedule.]

[ Totally harmless! Ella grins at the sound of the laughter - she doesn't recognize the face, but that doesn't matter. ]

Yes, but I'm used to her ways by now. Really, she should be grateful that I go to so much trouble to wake her in the morning.

[Wanda loves Ella's smile.]

Exactly! [mischievous grin] Well, then, I suppose you have no choice but to continue being creative until she finally appreciates your efforts or learns to get up on time.

[ D'aww, that's so sweet. She likes Wanda's smile too - everyone should smile more! Also, giggling behind a hand at that. ]

I think I can agree to that. I have a couple of ideas I haven't put into action yet for her. [ Smiling again. ]

I'm Ella. Are you new?

Hello, Ella! [She waves.] Yes, I'm new. My name's Wanda. It's a pleasure to meet you.

[Wanda can't recall how many people she's said those words to since arriving here. But each time, like this time, it's been true. How strange and yet wonderful.]

It's nice to meet you too, Wanda! How are you liking the island so far?

And I say 'liking' really loosely given the circumstances.

I've been to plenty of strange places, but I think this just might be the strangest. [She laughs.]

We've all been thrown together in the most ridiculous way, and yet most everyone seems to be relatively well adjusted ... considering.

[Wanda is actually overwhelmed and running on fumes, but she's currently too far down the rabbit hole to notice.]

You may be right. I've been here a year and some things still surprise me.

If we can't get out, like it seems to be the case, then we have to adapt to survive, right?

Its basically what the holiday was based on.

Taking pleasure out of another person's pain? I thought the holiday was based on harmless jokes ... or something.

Technically its happiness at the misfortune of others.

Its unfortunate to have a bucket of ice cold water fall on you, but its funny to see it happen to someone else.

As long as they don't get hurt in the process... yes, I suppose it is a little funny.

[Funny was funny regardless, but his sense of humour didn't exactly jive with others]

Course it is! There is a whole brand of comedy called Slapstick dedicated to it.

Slapstick? What does violence against sticks have to do with comedy?

[He laughs]

Its like when someone slips on a bananna peel, or gets hit in the head with a large board as someone turns.

OH! Is that what they call it? I've seen performances when sometimes jesters would do things like that. To entertain the nobles, primarily, but that's just the antics of a jester. To be honest I can't imagine how anyone does what they do without actually hurting themselves. Some of their antics look painful.

Yep, that is what they call it. Its all a matter of knowing how to control power, and roll with hits. If you stand your ground when something hits you, you take the full brunt of it. Thats why they say roll with the punches.

[Actually he has no idea why they say that]

I ... guess that actually makes sense. [ Kind of. ]

THey'd have to roll with the punches, so to speak, if they want to continue what they're doing. I mean, it's noit like they're deliberately going out to taunt lions or something, for the sake of humor - right?

[I just made sense, thats it turn on the jams! Awwwwwww yeaaaaaahh ]

Oh yeah, well taunting lions can be pretty fun, as long as you can bail out. Though it has been said you have to suffer for your art.

[ Snerk! Jam away, Ella's just going to give him a strange look. ]

I feel a little sorry for the lions though. Is that the sort of humor you enjoy? Slapstick?

[ She'd probably like Monty Python, actually. Who doesn't? ]

Slapstick is pretty good, I enjoy all types though.
