If it's all of the above, Lightning's probably got a lot in common with you. The ex-soldier is clearly displeased by the look on her face once the camera of NV stabilizes. Arriving on one form of hell was bad enough, including that rough landing, but coming to on some random property with obscene and angry messages splayed around and being told there was no escape was NOT on the day's agenda.]

I need one of two things: real answers, or a way out of this place. And don't give me that 'we can't leave' crap. That is not an answer.

And these companies can take their crap gift baskets back. I'm not interested and I never will be.

I know the 'we can't leave' answer is difficult to just cheerfully accept, but it's mostly true. It's more accurate to say that we can't leave voluntarily. This will sound ridiculous, but there's this strange machine called the Core that drags people from different dimensions and forcibly keeps us here. How long a person stays before being returned seems to be random.

It's not possible to leave currently, it may not be the case always, but it certainly is a reality now. Those who try, and there have been many, have always returned.

I am not sure I can give you the answers you desire to hear, but I would be happy to help.

You've been brought to an alternate world line, existing, as far as I can tell, in its own independent space and time, by a machine called the Core. And there is no way to leave right now, so you'll have to take that answer for now.

But what if the real answer is that there's no way out of this place? [He holds up both hands--don't shoot, coppah!] Truth sucks sometimes, but that doesn't make it untrue, unfortunately.

No, it doesn't. But if there's a way to get us here, then there must be a way back. A one-way trip doesn't sound very plausible.

I have listened, and what did I hear? A woman denying reality, begging to be told lies because the harsh truth is too much for her to bear. What is it you want to hear?

Curious that you asked for answers, and yet refuse my offer. Do you want some answers, or would you prefer to discover them yourself?

There is no way home. If you try to leave, you will die, and the Core will bring you back, over and over again. I suggest you make the most of your time here.
