We don't necessarily. I'm older than any of the other vampires in Louisiana, but our Queen is younger than I am. because it's as you say--if you're the dominant dog, then you have to fight to stay that way.

But a dog with the fangs and strength to challenge that authority if it pushes its luck, but otherwise keeps its place, respectfully; well, that's a much simpler life.
