[The first images that appear are fuzzy close-ups of a hand. Calloused, tan fingers, a grass-stained palm, and—ah! He’s been covering up the lens accidentally. Balthazar has never had occasion to use one of these things before, and, already uncomfortable and disoriented, he’s a little slow to learn. Oops.] Oh. There I am. Do I look that bad? Eurgh.

[He does, in fact, look ill; eyes shadowed, skin pale and clammy.] I’ve decided I don’t enjoy pain, except in very small, controlled doses.

[There’s a long pause, during which Balthazar looks like he’s trying to construct a speech, or maybe just keep from throwing up. Or both. He may not be dealing with the shock of arrival very well. In any case, he gives up on profound observations quickly.] However, I do enjoy alcohol, in large, uncontrolled doses.

[His smile is wan.] No, I’m not asking. I don’t take candy from strangers.

[Another pause, with him staring elsewhere, frowning mildly. The questions he really wants answers to--what the hell happened? why am I here? what do I do now?--don't seem to have simple answers. And the question 'who else is out there?' may have answers he doesn't like.]

…So, are there games on this thing? [Beep-boop-boop. Hello, button mashing.]

I'm still figuring things out. I'll take what I can get. Nice to meet you, too. [Awkward smile. Give him a few days, he'll be happy to snark at everything again.]

It takes awhile to get used to this place. All I can say is be careful going out at night. It's probably better if you can avoid it at all. Even if you have powers of some sort..the monsters are kind of rough.

I have heard this. Shame. I used to like going out at night.

I'd heard powers were relatively par for the course here, though. Dare I ask about your hidden talents, or is that considered rude?

Me? Oh..I can use zaiphon. It's little hard to explain but basically words and emotions become an offensive power. [Plus he has a god inside of him..but yeah, he isn't sharing that part.]

Interesting! But not like a magical ritual, I take it? [Balthazar's not ready to tip his hand yet, either. He won't pry.]

Magical ritual? Ah..I'm not really sure. Not really I don't think. It's not really a ritual at all. [Teito is trying to work that out in his his head and think of what zaiphon might be like but he is drawing a blank.]

That's all right, you don't have to explain. It's just been my experience that humans argue semantics with these sorts of abilities frequently. Where's the line between magic and psychic power, for example? But I've never heard the word zaiphon before, so you're one up on me, at any rate.

Well, it seems like zaiphon is only on my world. No one else here has ever heard of it either. At least..not that I have met. There are lots of powers I have never heard about either.

That's unique. Maybe you have an advantage, possessing a power no one else quite understands. Unluckily for me, I have a number of siblings here, all of whom know my capabilities as well as I do.

It's good that you have family here isn't it? Makes it easier to settle in when you know someone.

There's that, yes, but family can also be stressful. I don't know yet which way things will go here.
