Nice meeting you too, Snow. What sort of combat are you familiar with? Uh, let me explain that better. What are you trained in?

I was taught how to use a knife, and I am a skilled rider.

Never needed to learn how to ride but, knives are good. Anything you can throw that's sharp is good as a starter to a fight or distraction.

It will be a good starting point, but I wish to learn more.

And that's why we're having this conversation. Most important thing is to find the sword type that suits you. Be it one handed swords or two handers, or even those weird curved blades. The weight has to be in balance with your body.

Are there so many swords that I could test them all?

There's quite a few types, yeah. You'd have to look around to get your hands on them.

I've got long swords, and like I said, one handers. Bit heavy but you get the hang of using that weight to your advantage.
