Losing your power is hardly something to be so depressed over. You have your life. You can find a new love, a new future.

And you never really lose hope - it's always there, if you look for it. [ What a drama queen. Okay granted if it was someone who's had magic all his life it can be a little jarring but.. ]

I think it's a good thing, to be honest. It teaches people not to take things for granted - like their power.
