Life is balance.

From the deepest darkness, a world of light was brought forth -- sometimes with words, at other times with song -- and since that moment, the forces of both Light and Darkness have clashed in various times and places.

In the midst of such trials, there are times we lose sight of that which is most precious.

I would encourage you all to cleave to that which you hold dear and remember the purpose for which you stand.

[ Disturbed as he rarely is, Aslan wanders the decaying streets, clearing particularly infested areas of the creatures that roam the Darkness. His inner light repels the city's miasma, a golden beacon that illuminates the night.

Any who dare to venture out into the Darkness are welcome to join him at any time. ]

[ This "big ol' kitty" does not care for games or pet names. Though he is tolerant, to a certain degree, some things he will not abide.

Eve's presence, which registers as the antithesis of he himself, qualifies as one of those things. ]

There are a great many things that give me cause for concern.

[ A feral howl sounds in the distance; he's out in the Darkness tonight, and apparently not alone. ]

There are times I wait for morning.

Life brings an assortment all its own.

Here, in this place, there is a delicate balance that ought not be disrupted.

A purpose is often found, not given.

Without perspective, identity can be lost in its folds.

He turns, gaze turning unerringly towards the rear of the house. Where, outside, three keys still rose from the earth (two carved of wood, one forged from metal and light), untouched since their discovery.]


[Respectfully, if quietly.] This world's idea of balance might be considered...profoundly subjective, My Lord. [Particularly when it came to loss.]

Everyone's stuck here, so I'd say that balance is pretty important but why are you warning people like that?

[ No, but he is the source and focus of whatever religion may exist in his world. ]

We are more than the goals we may set for ourselves.

I know.

[ Save for a short trip home, he's been here for two years. He understands this place well, its patterns and its cruelties. He's seen many passings in his long years, but the pang of loss never truly diminishes. ]

This world has little to offer in the way of kindness.

Some are.
