[ This bright Sunday morning finds Gilbert Nightray sitting behind the wheel of a black jaguar convertible. ]

I'm realizing that I've been a rut, lately. All I do is look after my young master, fret about things uselessly, and work.

[ It isn't his car. ]

So I thought I'd go for a drive, reacquaint myself with the city. Would anyone care to join me? You could point out some things that I've been taking for granted.

[ In fact, he's never driven a car before. ]

I'd be happy to exchange a lift in exchange for a bit of tour guiding, what do you say?

Not like in shows or anything, silly! They usually have pretty bad CGI portals, though, and they're all so funny! Is that what people really think portals look like? Their version of 'wormholes'?

It's more like-- slipping through a barrier, really! There's no door or path-- it's always there, right above your sleep and below your dreams.

[ Very little of what she says makes any sort of sense to him, and there's the real possibility she's completely mad. Or pulling his leg. But the third possibility is that this represents an opportunity. ]

[ Extra time. That is, quite simply, amazing - particularly as he has no idea how long this switchup will last.

Also - the parallels to the Abyss are well worth investigating, if what she's promising is actually true. ]
