You were at the party for my birthday here. I turned sixty-nine. [Which is kinda . . . way young for shinigami. And previously unheard of for someone of his rank. Especially considering he wasn't yet fifty when he was promoted.]

Shinigami are essentially spirit samurai. [Gosh, Hitsugaya, don't say this; it's going to get her even more excited.] Though that rigid code of conduct is really only taken to extremes among the nobility.

Soul Society's nobility is steeped in the tradition of bushido; it tends to be followed most stringently by those of high birth.

But the shinigami as a whole aren't nobility. Not all of us ahere to all of its tenets. [He has his own code of behaviour, thank you.]
