If you think that aliens are hive minded, simple creatures, sure. But I highly doubt they would use their technology and resources just to come here to bop in a say 'what's up' and freak a race of people out that are far less advanced and have nothing to offer. Do you know what kind of technology it would take for an alien to travel across galaxies to come here? And you think it's just a fun vacation for them? Cute.
