[Pearl Fey’s emotions don’t always show easily, but when they do, they’re usually related to ~~ships~~ Maya Fey. And while there are exceptions, today’s not one of them. The sullen, sad look that crosses her face today is definitely caused by circumstances involving her favorite cousin - as well as their roommate, Mr. Armando.

Anyway, she’s sitting on a bench in what looks like a hospital corridor. That’s already bad news, isn’t it? She frowns very deeply (pretzels drooping) and shakes her head sadly at the camera.]

Mystic Maya and Mr. Armando became very sick yesterday. We got them to the doctors safely, but...

[After a moment’s pause, she shakes her head fiercely from side to side!] I’m going to do my best to help the doctors make sure they’re comfortable! I’m still very -- [sneeze!] -- I’m still mostly healthy, and I’m going to stay by their side until they get better.

… Um, does anybody know about Mr. Armando’s pet kitty? and Mystic Maya’s bird! Vladimir and Artemis need to be fed, but I can’t go between the apartment and the hospital by myself. The plants need to be watered, too! [Someone please help a fretting girl out.]

[And then, drooping again, before she shuts off the video.] Poor Mystic Maya... poor Mr. Armando. I should have been more alert...

[After making that announcement so those who know Mr. Armando and Maya will be in the know, Pearl’s going to be in their room watching over them worriedly. She tugs on blankets and sniffles, then perches herself on a chair and watches them with a frown

[Have a big strong hand lightly patting your head, Pearly. Jake is sick himself, though he seems to have it more severely. His skin is a little pale, and that's the only sign he can't hide from anyone. The headaches and pains, the clammy hands, the cough - he's doing his best to hide those, especially in front of the girls.]

I'll take care of the stuff at home, don't you worry, darlin'. You just worry about feelin' better, y'hear? [A pause.] And cacti don't need waterin' more'n once a month.

[Remember this familiar intense-looking face? He looks a little pale and not-so-good himself.]

How bad?

You look very tired too, Mr. Jake. [She looks up at him with a worried frown. She doesn't look too sick just yet, just very, very worried about Maya and Mr. Armando.]

[Everyone's getting sick and that's terrible. Pearl droops a little bit more.]

Very badly... She's hardly ever been this sick before!

[What's worse is that as a shinigami, he really shouldn't be getting sick. It doesn't happen often, and they tend to be immune to contracting human biological agents.]

[Just damn it. Damn it all. And he's probably stuck here in the house because Hinamori will certainly see fit to "ground" him for his own health.] Too many people getting sick lately.

[This is the first thing he sees when he gets his NV back, and it's troubling for several reasons. Yosuke has barely even met his new caretaker, but he's ready to grab his shoes again and go, now.]

Pearl-chan? I can be there soon, I just-

[and it pains him to say this]

Maya? [ Oh. He's mentally facepalming for not picking up on the similarities between her and Pearl earlier. Claire's still running at 100% health, at least for now. ] She's been hospitalized?

Don't worry yourself, Pearl. Or blame yourself. You've done well in getting them here. They're in our care now, and...you should remember to get some rest too.

[It takes well until evening for Diego to regain consciousness, and his case was a bit scary. He'd been feeling poorly, then suddenly had a seizure and passed out. This is going on a day he's been firmly out cold.

By evening of Thursday, however, his eyes are vaguely open, blindly staring up at the ceiling as he tries to put two and two together and remember what in the hell happened to him.]

[ oh the girl from the other day. The Doctor's still... not sick, but who knows how long that will last. ]

People get sick sometimes. I'm sure... they'll be fine.

[ because this is what he does. He comforts small children. ]

Maybe it's a virus of some sort. Are you sick too?

Permission? [blink blink blink] O-okay Mr. Yosuke! Please be careful.

Yes, she and Mr. Armando collapsed with a terrible fever.

Um... [There's a pause as she is raising herself from the bench, looking around. She speaks up a few seconds later.]

I'm very sorry. I don't remember the name or the address, and I don't want to leave Mystic Maya and Mr. Armando by themselves...

[He sort of crouches down on the floor beside her chair. No sense in hovering up above her - and it probably is best if he does rest a little bit, he's been on his feet ever since they got them both to the hospital.]

Naw, I ain't that tired. Don't you worry 'bout me, bambina.

It's fine, it's not dark out! Which hospital is it? I'm on my way.

She's got a very high fever. We brought her here because Mr. Jake and his friend and I couldn't take care of them ourselves.

Not a normal one.

[He debates lying outright about this, but then decides that he won't really be able to pull it off. So minimizing is go.] ... A little. It's not that bad.

[Yet.]

Your care...? Oh! Are you a doctor?

That's okay. Ah...the next time a nurse walks back, will you please ask them for me?

[Pearl is sitting between his bed and Maya's bed. The doctors gave her a blanket to put over her lap, and she's very, very concerned-- but her eyes widen and a smile cuts across her face when she sees Mr. Armando's eyes open!]

Oh! Are you awake?

[He's breathing heavily-- damn his old hatred of hospitals cropping up again. The sounds, the itchy scratch of the gown, the IVs in his arm... even the smell of the place makes him feel like throwing up.

Or maybe that's the flu. Eh.

He blinks, sightlessly moving his head towards the voice.]

Pearl?

Y-yes. I'm sure they will both be okay, but I've never seen Mystic Maya so sick before! I'm very worried.
