News & Advertisements
The city’s media channels have been starting to buzz with heavy promotion for a major upcoming sporting and festival event, Siren’s Port’s Spring Aerial Races, which will be held on April 15th (Weather Permitting).
The races will be an all day-affair, the centerpiece of celebrations happening at the Sector 5 Fairgrounds, for their seasonal opening. Rides will be up and running, carnival food and crafts will be plentiful, local musicians will be performing all day at the bandshell, and race winners will be announced throughout the various stages of the competition.
There are 6 race classes this year, separated into a ‘Plus’ class so that those with additional stacked powers may still participate while using them, without holding those who are solely fliers at a disadvantage: Juniors (Under 17), Winged, Non-Winged, Winged + , Non-Winged + , and a new category this year- Flying Machines (Including Cyborg Enhanced). All ‘Plus’ entrants must list their powers at registration.
The flight course involves passing through a series of checkpoints in a specific order, large colored rings suspended high above the city skyline on race day. The event will be filmed and televised portwide, as well as broadcast live at the Fairgrounds main stage.
Registry is open till April 12th, and anyone can sign up at the fairgrounds. Corporate scouts will also be hosting ‘test flights’ there to look for people to sponsor.
The entry fee is a steep $250, but many entrants take up corporate or neutrally commercial sponsorships to pay for their fee and sport their sponsor’s logo wear or flight gear. Small businesses or private sponsors may also take a race entrant under wing to promote themselves. SERO and AGI’s multiple sub-companies will be competing to sponsor several entrants in each class, and their favored racers are expected to win.
Prize money is $15,000 for winners in each class, with $10,000 and $5,000 for 2nd and 3rd place respectively. In addition, Sparks Casino will be hosting a gambling booth at the fairgrounds during the races, so anyone can place their bets and make some fast cash.
Colorful banners, posters and commercials advertising the event are starting to appear everywhere in the city this week, and both companies are involved in building hype. The fairgrounds director, an enthusiastic lady named Cameo Cleary who is newly appointed to the position, seems determined for the event to go off fabulously and without a hitch! She is open to entertainment suggestions, and will be boisterously over-involved in registrations at the fairgrounds over the next few days.
(OOC: Please feel free to use this post to plot for any kind of participation in the event, which will be an open log going up on on the 15th. An additional OOC comm post will be forthcoming in a few days!)

Would her Monocycle fall under Non-Winged/Non-Winged + or would she enter into the Flying Machines category?
