- Newcomers Required to Carry ID? “Not On Our Dime”, says Stingy Governor
Governor Townshed has been reviewing a newly drafted law requiring all newcomers to carry Photo ID, registered at the Siren’s Port Department of Motor Vehicles. He is currently planning to veto the bill, because he believes it should not fall to the city to cover printing and processing costs for newcomers, when basic photo license and registration costs $50 for local citizens. “Under this proposal, we could not expect fresh-off-the-field arrivals to immediately pay for these IDs themselves, but that’s just not a dime I’m willing to squeeze out of the taxpayer’s treasury or waive on their behalf.”

“This initiative will keep tabs on these unknowns and keep them on formal record- easier for police to identify. We have no idea just how many of these people are wandering these streets as John Does, and that’s irresponsible.” explained lobbyist Shane Overstud, who thinks Townshed is being a penny pincher on the issue. “if overhead cost is such a big problem, I’m sure the companies could lend a hand. Microloans aren’t so difficult to come by, even for newcomers.” Under the newly proposed law, greeters will be required to inform new arrivals they have 48 hours to acquire ID.

[Dean's pretty frigging worried but he's trying to stay cool about it and part of playing that game is not to alert the other people that might figure out how to read between the lines, know his silent cues, or will add to the drama themselves.

Sure, he'll pay for it later but right now keeping it from the rest is necessary.

[Filtered away from everyone in his cast he can possibly think of but hackable.]

has anyone seen Mary Winchester?

she's been gone longer than usual and she's not picking up her phone

I'd like to think she's out having a good time but it's not like her to shirk parental duties so I have to play the role of the good samaritan and ask

[ So, in all the flurry of moving and everything else that's been going on - people getting sick, Willow not being the least of all, people disappearing, fighting monsters, etc - Buffy hasn't had much time to talk to Angel. She was excited about showing him her new place with Willow, but when she tried to contact him, it didn't work. His usual haunts are surprisingly non-haunty and there's a very extreme lack of skulking. Instincts kick in, and she knows something's wrong. Very, very wrong. ]

I can't find Angel. Or get him to pick up. Or -- or anything. [ She sounds... not really panicked, so much as just very worried. ] I think something happened to him. If anyone knows anything -- or if there's someone who could help me find out... I'd really - [ She's distracted by her fretting levels. ] - appreciate it, and double-really owe you big time.

[Here is Visser One, posting with her own face for the very first time, businesslike and deadly serious. She seems to be posting from some kind of office- whether home or otherwise is impossible to tell. Everything about her has the air of unimpeachable seasoned authority.]

Well, we've all seen the rash of posts about disappearances in the last three days. [She takes a short, impatient breath, drawing herself up a little more.] Come now, we can't possibly think it's just a coincidence. What did that kind of thinking get us with the virus?

Organizing is imperative. We won't accomplish anything by staying scattered and in a panic.

First and foremost, I need you all to come forward here and give the name of anybody who's gone missing this week. So far, I have a list of six names.

[She folds her hands on her desk and leans in, expression intensifying- but still unusually cold. Like a hunter, not an impassioned loved one.]

We will find them. We'll find them, bring them home, then we'll find the offender and give them exactly what they deserve.

(OOC: feel free to threadjack and make a big mess of this post if you want! Visser One just really wants to see some discussion and organization going on, and so do I.)

[Starting midday on Thursday, all over the island, people will start to see gleaming, iridescent butterflies like the one in the icon. Their wings reflect light, scattering little rainbows as they fly. They don't swarm, nor are they attracted to flowers or bright colors, or otherwise behave like natural butterflies. In fact, anyone who pays attention will realize they seem to be exploring and canvassing the city in an organized pattern as House methodically searches for Mary. Despite being directed by the House's intelligence, they can be caught easily enough with most powers or good old-fashioned butterfly nets, and close examination will reveal them to be synthetic: sleek, lightweight little machines, with laser-thin photoreceptive carbon wings and little legs for clinging to perches. At this point, the butterfly is likely to snap a picture of their face, which House will run against network posts until it has a number, and will call to politely ask for the butterfly's release.]

[OOC: Feel free to write out butterfly-chasing action in either prose or comment spam, whatever you like. Doubling up/threadjacking/multiple muses chasing one butterfly are cool too. Equally open to kids or young at heart who want some harmless fun, or to schemey types who want to examine/steal House's tech, or anyone who just wants an IC excuse to talk to the House. If there might be any problem with House figuring out the NV of the captor to make contact, let me know.]
